With intel supposedly dropping the price of the core duo processors on May 28th, does anyone want to weigh in on the possibility that we might see a speed bump in the iMac or mac mini next tuesday?(seeing as they're the ones that haven't been upgraded in awhile)

The price of the 2.16ghz is dropping to the price of the current 2.0ghz and the 2.0ghz down to the price of the current 1.83ghz etc.... so it sort of makes "some" sense

Just wanna see people’s opinions on this one.

No chance.

trpt192 you have failed to understand how business works! The price drop is for CPUs ordered from next Tuesday. Apple will have estimated demand up front and orderd the CPUs they need for the next 2-3 months already.

It'll take a few months before Apple take deliver of CPUs ordered at the new price to put in laptops.

So the chance of a price drop (or speed bumps, but what would they bump the 2.16 to? There isn't a faster CPU) is pretty much zero.

Technically, every Tuesday there is a chance of an upgrade, being that none of us ever know what Apple has planned. But this one, does not seem likely due to what robbieduncan said.

I don't think the OP is totally crazy here. They did just bump the MBP. I know that had to do with the MB coming out, but still. Definitely not impossible to see slight bumps in the near future. Just something on the order of the imac going 1.83-->2.0 and 2.0-->2.16, or the mini going 1.5 solo-->1.66 duo and 1.66-->1.83 at the same price points.

I for one would like to see the core solo mini bumped up to a duo. Not that I want to buy one, but it would be great to have duos across the line because i bet rosetta isn't much fun at all with a core solo and 512 RAM.
