Ok since I was schooled last night by the posting police, I'll pose a question here:

I want to replace my MDD G4 PM. I like having a home machine and a travel/work machine - I'm fearful of not having a good "backup" and use .mac and like working on a "desktop" at home and a laptop on the road. I own a 2Ghz MBP. I could:

1) Make the MBP my desktop - I have a 21" Samsung LCD I could hook it up to and span and then get a macBook as my remote machine. I'd get the mid-level white model since I've heard of paint peeling on the black.

2) I could get a 20" imac. I'd go with the 256 since I couldn't upgrade later.

3) I could sit tight and wait, but the urge is to go now with something new.

Between 1 and 2 I could save about 5-600 bucks.

Thoughts?

Or you could buy a used/refurbed G5 imac and save even more money. Or keep your MDD, they are pretty good machines and you've still got a few years left before they're too old to be truly useful...

Well I went to the local Apple store, they didnt' have any 256MB iMacs in stock, no estimate as to if/when they will get them back. Worked out alright since I would have had to get the wireless keyboard/mouse combo and I don't need it - got a Mighty mouse and Keyboard ready for one.
