i have an apple tv 3rd generation i have recently bought a HDMI to VGA converter for my computer monitor and i want to know if i can some how get optical speakers because my monitor is kind of useless and i want to use it is there a way i can hook up external speakers to my apple tv without wasting my savings account?

Not sure what kind of plug your monitor needs, but you can get a RCA-RCA or RCA-1/8" cable from mono price also for a couple bucks
