Here's one for you. I would like to use each of my 2009 MP optical bay cables for SSDs, but I also need a molex cable to run to my external PSU. The choices of splitters and other adapters seems limited since the cables in the optical bays are the one-piece variety, with cable and data combined.

Can any of you think of a way to use the 2 optical bay cables as they were intended but to also get a molex off of them? Am I missing/forgetting something? (I feel like I am)

Worst case I could just manually power on and off the external PSU.

Trace a cable back to the backplane board power connection and split there. Or disconnect the Data connector at the backplane board and replace with a separate SATA cable to the optical bay and split the power in the optical bay.
