Optical Drive Install Problem in a 5.1

Hello,
Seeking Troubleshooting Advice.
I attempted to install an HP1270 DVD Burner in my 5.1 MP and the disc tray lines up about 1 or 2 millimeters to low to properly operate. I tried the upper and lower bay but it happened in both.

I would like to not keep having to use the drive in an external housing. Tired of futzing with the cabling when it 'ought' to be able to set in the MP neatly out of sight.

Any suggestions on what I should look at?
Did I Misinstall something?
Not put ____ in correctly?
I Can't get there from here with this drive?

My aftermarked BD-R needed the extra cover trim on the door removed in order to open properly in the Mac Pro. Make sure that has been done. The tray should only slide straight out, without any doors flipping, and that sliding tray alone activates the aluminum door on the Mac Pro case.

Like Wonderspark says, you have to pop off the bezel from the front of the tray.

First thing I did was take the Fascia Plate off the HP Drive off
In case it snapped on me and then what's the use of having taken the MacPro Optical Assembly Thingie out of my Tower. I've been down roads like that before in my life!

The 'flat' tray does slide forward and activate the MP's drop door just fine.
The Issue is the tray then catches on the Front of the MP itself. If I'm 'quick' I can tap the tray up and over and it extends fully. Also retracts but with a bit of friction as it slides along the MP's aluminum body.

In all honesty, I'm putting this HP in solely for the purpose of using it's Lightscribe Abilities. I have to burn a fair number of discs each week and I happen to really like them having clear, legible, and consistent labeling, without futzing with inkjets, stickers, or markers.

First Thing I did before Cracking open my MP in case I busted the drive

Hmm, well in that case, you can try not using the two rear screws on the carrier tray, and just giving the drive a very slight push downward in the rear (where the SATA plugs in) to tilt the drive up by a few millimeters. It will be fine with only two screws holding it in. If perhaps you have only one drive in place, and it slips to pointing upward too much, you can brace it with something, or put the drive in the lower bay with a thin brace/padding and put your SSD or whatnot in the upper bay space. It sounds like you just need to tilt the tray upward by a smidgen.

Interesting Suggestions!

I like them. I am a 2D type of guy who mostly does photography and similar stuff. Such a 3 Dimensional approach as giving it a tilt in the bay makes sense. Thx
