Ok i got my new MacBook Pro (first Mac by the way) yesterday from my local apple store and i have had no problems at all except that when i put in a burned CD or a blank CD it pops it right back out after about 20 seconds. It will mount bought CDs and DVDs, but not burned or blank CDs. I haven't tried blank DVDs because i've never had a DVD burner so i'm not sure about those. Besides this one minor problem it has got to be the coolest computer i've ever used and i'm glad i opted for a mac instead of a piece of crap dell for college haha. But any help on this would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

Although Macs aren't too picky when it comes to burnable CD's (they are picky about DVD media), you may want to try a different brand of blank CD's and see what happens. What brand are you trying now? You can always take it back to the Apple Store and let them take a look at it.

I'm trying black Memorex CDs now..i don't have a different brand on me now. I'll be going to an Apple store tomorrow with a friend who is going to buy a MBP so i guess i might take mine in there too and get them to look at it.

Personally, I won't buy Memorex branded media, but CD's don't seem the be a problem, so....

If you are going to the Apple Store anyway, you really should take it with you so they can look at it. Who knows, you may leave with another new computer. If something is indeed wrong, you need Apple to know about it.

ok so i popped in an older Memorex CD that isn't the black type i have and it worked. Weird, but thanks for the advice. Sucks because i just bought a whole new spindle of Black ones. haha oh well, at least he computer is fine..
