Hey guys, I've got something on my mind since the first day I got my 7 Plus. I've noticed that when taking a regular photo with the stock app, the image doesn't look like it's being optically stabilized. With WhatsApp ou Facebook Messenger's photo feature, the image stays fairly stabilized. This leads to conclude that's it's a software thing. Or am I wrong? Am I missing something?

I know the 7 Plus has optical stabilization (hardware as you say it), but why doesn't it look like in the stock app? If i change from Photo to Video, the image looks a lot more stabilized. It's hard to put it to words.

It looks smoother on video as the frame rate for the viewer is higher. Your phone is being optically stabilized, but no way to visually confirm that while taking the photo.

What about WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger? The photo feature inside those apps are just higher framerate? The stabilization is the same as the stock app?

Correct. The frame rate is just that of the viewfinder, since not until you are actually recording and then playing back the recording can you see the actual frame rate. Basically, the stock camera app doesn't have a very high frame rate for the viewfinder when taking still photos, as it's really not necessary and
doesn't change the quality of the photo at all. Some 3rd party camera apps are even worse actually. Regardless, I wouldn't worry about it. Everything is functioning properly.
