Optical out on the 11"

Does optical out work on the new macbook airs?...as anyone had it working?

Im using one of these: http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/.../toslink-to-3.5mm-jack-converter/display.html

which i used on my previous MBP ,but i cant get the thing to fit the air.

Does the air actaully support optical out?

It doesn't afaik. However, you can use the mini displayport for both audio and video.

Hmm Thanks didnt realize that....so what sort of adapter would i need ,if theres one available to connect the air upto my optical surround (logitech z5500)?

Im also using a dual link display adapter as im driving my 30" panel aswell if that makes a difference

You could use a USB soundcard to get optical out. They're pretty affordable nowadays. I have the older version of this card which I use to output 5.1 surround from my ION net top that I have hooked up to my TV.
