Works fine with magsafe.

Anybody else having this issue?

I'm charging it with old ipad charger (12W) now through usb-c-port, since 99% of usage is with power adapter.
Charging state remains 98-100%.

I have clicked Optimised charging off and back on.

Tried to ask this from Apple's support 3 weeks ago.
Somehow the guy never forwarded the question to engineers.
Today I made sure that this is question user should have an answer.

So far, with 30W ipadAir's charger I got one time "Optimized" ie. charging stopped at 80% and multiple times to 100%.

Next weeks I'll try mbp's own 67W-charger with usb-c (both ends) cable...

Just a guess, I think this might have to do with the computer trying to learn your charging pattern and adjust to it to "optimally" charge it to 100% when it requires to. plugging it into a 12W charger means it'll take literally forever for it to charge from 80% to 100% when the need arise, therefore it just keeps it topped off.

I have my 14" M1 connected to a Thunderbolt Dock (96W charging) and use it mostly in clamshell mode. I have seen the optimized charging with the battery charge remaining at 80% about 2 times over the past year using the MacBook. It just keeps sitting at 100%. The battery is down to 89% health now...

Might very well be so.
I can't see any reason for Apple to not to explain how this works.
There has to be somebody, who could write sensible text about these mysteries.
Or they could let chatGPT help...

Like I wrote, my last tries were with 30-watt psu.

Next: 67W + usb-c
Then: 30W + magsafe
