I just wanted to post my experience with purchasing my new iMac. I have been lurking around the forums for a couple months anticipating the update. To be honest, this forum freaked me out. Yellowing? Buzzing? Loud hard drives? Why would I ever buy an iMac? There were a few posts I read that gave me hope... and I just wanted to post mine in case it helps others as well.
Long story short.. My iMac arrived. And its fine. Runs cool. Runs quiet. Looks great. Couple dead pixels i think maybe. Now I'm not saying these people are all crazy. I'm just saying I ordered my first iMac. Got it like 5 days later. And, its fine.
As for my windows to mac move:
I was all prepared to give OSX a go, since people go on about how they love it. But, I can't get past the mouse acceleration. So I bought W7 and bootcamped it. I keep switching to OSX to give it a try, but I can't get past the mouse control. I have no other problem with the operating system. Seems nice. But, I want the pointer to go where I move it. I don't want it to try and "help" me. Probably only a issue for people coming from windows. But what can I say. If they want to try to get people to switch from windows, fix it. I'm pretty sure this is going to be a windows machine.
And the second thing. Glossy screen. Ugh. I'm gonna put up some blinds behind me and I'll be fine. But matte would be better. This is taking form over function slightly too far I think.
end.
