I just wanted to post my experience with purchasing my new iMac. I have been lurking around the forums for a couple months anticipating the update. To be honest, this forum freaked me out. Yellowing? Buzzing? Loud hard drives? Why would I ever buy an iMac? There were a few posts I read that gave me hope... and I just wanted to post mine in case it helps others as well.

Long story short.. My iMac arrived. And its fine. Runs cool. Runs quiet. Looks great. Couple dead pixels i think maybe. Now I'm not saying these people are all crazy. I'm just saying I ordered my first iMac. Got it like 5 days later. And, its fine.

As for my windows to mac move:

I was all prepared to give OSX a go, since people go on about how they love it. But, I can't get past the mouse acceleration. So I bought W7 and bootcamped it. I keep switching to OSX to give it a try, but I can't get past the mouse control. I have no other problem with the operating system. Seems nice. But, I want the pointer to go where I move it. I don't want it to try and "help" me. Probably only a issue for people coming from windows. But what can I say. If they want to try to get people to switch from windows, fix it. I'm pretty sure this is going to be a windows machine.

And the second thing. Glossy screen. Ugh. I'm gonna put up some blinds behind me and I'll be fine. But matte would be better. This is taking form over function slightly too far I think.

end.

Congrats! What is wrong with the mouse? Is it too slow? BetterTouchTool makes Magic Mouse really magical and it lets you to speed it up as well

Thanks :)

I have messed with bettertouchtool as well as a few others. The one that worked the best for me was actually just this little script:

And while they definitely help. Mouse control still just feels off. With the magic mouse, after using that script, control feels very close to ok. With a logitech mouse, it still feels awful. Best way I can describe it is this. When I move the mouse, I want that to directly correlate to what happens to the pointer. In OSX, with a fix or not, it feels like something is interfering with my control. It is trying to help me hover over links or anything I can click. Its changing the speed of my pointer based on how slow or fast I'm moving the mouse. I mean, I know what its trying to do, and I don't like it. Its trying to "help" me. And I just want it to leave me alone :)

An option to turn off mouse acceleration would help me and probably others convert from Windows with more ease. Its a very small thing, and it is guaranteed to keep me working on my Windows partition.
