Optimize Macbook for HD LCD TV?

I was wondering if there is a way to optimize via settings or a 3rd party program/settings for using a macbook on an LCD TV.

The TV supports 1080p (and everything below it). I'm using my apple mini DVI to DVI adapter, into a DVI to HDMI adapter, to HDMI port on TV.

When I put it in 1080p under preferences, I can hardly read any of the text because it's not anti aliased for TV. I've got it in 1344 x 756 right now and it's all pretty readable, but it's huge. I'd like to go higher resolution if possible.

Any help would be much appreciated, I just would like to go higher resolution or make a it look a little better.

I knew I was leaving something out.

It's a brand new latest model Panasonic Viera 42" LCD HD TV 1080p 60hz.

Bump. I'm really interested in finding out if there is a better resolution or a better display mode for this. It doesn't look bad, it (well text) just doesn't look as crisp as I'd like it to.

I'm having issues as well, plugging my UMB into my Vizio 37" 1080p LCD in my office. I use 2 cables: mini display port->HDMI->TV, with settings on 1080p. Text looks kinda weird, like too much detail? The letters are very skinny; as if it would look better with everything in Bold. Streaming video looks really good, it's just the text that's weird.

My buddy has a new Mini plugged into his 52" Samsung 1080p. He often watches TV with Hulu and
uses it to surf the web too. He plugged into his TV via the VGA (PC)input rather than the HDMI, saying it gets truer colors etc. It looks really good.

I have a samsung lcd 46a850.
on The back of the tv I have a dvi input. i just hook that straight up to the tv on my macbook pro and it works. I tried to do the same on my macbook with the dvi converter thing. No luck the computer see's the tv but it does not come up on the screen.

With the macbook pro it looks really good. I can actually work on the tv. To do things like post on mac rumors. : )
