Hi to all out there having already experiences with this iOS 13 setting!

It's clear that a nearly identical daily routine makes it easy to implement a just-in-time finishing of battery charging. But how this would be for a rather weekly repeating schedule? I e.g. would end charging:

  • on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 4.30 a.m.
  • on Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 6.00 a.m.
  • on weekends at 7.30 a.m.
Does "Optimized Battery Charging" take such a schedule in account and adjusts the start of the "final charging sprint" dependent from the day of the week?

It seems nothing beyond marketing info on tech sites is available on this feature. Thats understandable as it is still in beta.

I am not able to answer your question but I will say 2 things:

1. I'm using it on my 8 plus and results are inconclusive. I wouldn't rely on this feature (yet) if I were to take an early morning/late night travel. I have been using it for about 4 weeks now

2. Depends on the ML used to *predict* the charger out times. Also, depends on the learning period of the ML. And if its adaptive.Because users can have both set and sporadic charging times. Hope they have taken into account the smart battery case in this.
 
support for a schedule would be nice, taking into account Bedtime Wake time I'd like even more (and a no-brainer as it indicates when I'll get out of bed and expect the phone to be fully charged)...
 
There's a reason there's an OFF switch for this feature. It's only going to work for people who have repetitive lives. There's no way any algorithm can predict when a person might randomly unplug a phone at whim.

Instead of the ML Optimize Battery Charging feature that won't work for most people, Aple could have given us an 80% charge shutoff with a simple switch. But they didn't because expensive Battery replacements make them a lot of money and are often the driver for people buying new phones instead. Aple doesn't want iPhone batteries lasting forever.

Whatever Apple might want or not want, basic battery chemistry takes care of batteries not lasting forever. Even all these optimizations and so forth will likely not be able to make that much of a noticeable difference for most typical scenarios, not because they won't work for people, but just because batteries will still get used and will still degrade.

Agree it's annoying they even started blocking battery data for apps that could read charge rate and stop charging at lower %s.

The context is- OP has posted a schedule of theirs. My reply is not about randomly unplugging the phone or whatever.

Repetitive routines can be recorded and algorithms can make use of it for a prediction with a confidence level.

We will not know what apple has implemented until it is used in field for sometime and see the behavior of this feature and the associated patterns.
