Hi everyone,

loving iOS13.1 on my iPhone 6S except optimized charging. I charge to 100% before I go to bed and the next day I have 40% battery left. I charged to 100% at work and playing Need for speed for 5 mins my phone lost 40%. I also use Pokemon Go and noticed my phone was always warm. I set location to 'while using the app' for Pokemon Go and disabled optimized charging and the warmth vanished from my phone. I enabled location to always again for Pokemon Go and still, the phone is cool and the battery is steady. SO it appears that optimized charging is the culprit.

My wife had the same problem with her iPhone SE after iOS13.1 - disabled optimized charging and the phone is cool again and battery life is ok again.

Is anyone else having the same problem? What phone do you have?

I suspect a bug!

I haven't noticed optimized charging causing my 7 Plus to get heated with iOS 13.1. Haven't seen a change in battery life with mine either.

I have used the optimised charging on iPhone 7 since iOS 13.0 PB4. The first 24 hours after installing the first beta the iPhone did feel warmer and the battery would drain by itself, with the phone being idle. Then the next day it all went back to normal, without any changes made by me. Now running iOS 13.1, no issues.

I will re-enable it on mine now and see if it affects the battery.

My wife's phone has been overheating and draining the battery for two days now. I suspect what's running is not noticeable on the new iPhones but on the older ones it is (less efficient cpus). I don't understand why Apple doesn't schedule all the indexing while the phone is plugged in on charge. I never noticed it this bad on previous iOS's.

It this working for you guys??
Mine is on and it just goes up to 100% overnight, every night.

Anyone with the same issue?

I got the same issue. Charges as soon as I plug it in. Though I have to say that I'm using the app Sleep Cycle, which activates the microphone and drains about 15% battery overnight. Maybe that's the cause. I will try on the weekend without the app activated and report back.

same but i read somewhere that it needs to study your habits for a little before it implements it. but not sure

Well it’s on for 8 days now. I wonder if that’s not enough for it to work.

It's not that, iOS 13, just like every iOS update, brings you slowly closer to forcing you to upgrade to the latest iPhone. Apple intentionally makes the battery life worse.

Mine hasn’t worked since the very beginning of the betas of iOS 13. To this day it still doesn’t. Didn’t work on my iPhone X I had as well as my iPhone 11 Pro.

Seems like a bug. Apple released iOS13.1.1 to fix the battery drain bug (and other bugs). :)
