Option to join my preffered WIFI network?

OK, guys, let me try to explain what I want....My city is completely covered with WIFI signal from one of our carriers, WIFI network called UNIFY (payed service of course). Very useful when I am moving around the city and never lose WIFI. So far so good......but, when I come home I am still connected to it, but I want my iPhone to connect to my own WIFI, as soon as a get home. So, no forgetting networks, or asking to join network, or any similar workarounds......just a simple option in phone settings, that would recognize my own wifi and automatically connect to it. So far, I didn't find any useful solution. Maybe time for Apple to think about it and make such an option possible. I am not aware of any tweak, that would make me do that. Anyone aware of another simple solution maybe?

Doesn't it work (and basically has always worked) similarly on desktop computers as well--if you have a good connection to one WiFi network that you are already connected to it won't really try to connect to another one?

Yup, but that's not the point. When the phone in near preferred WIFI network, I want my phone to connect to it by default and for that, there should be an option in settings to simply set it that way.

I understand the idea, and certainly wouldn't be bad to have some additional controls over that. What I'm saying is that what's happening now is what's been happening for years and years even before phones connected to WiFi--meaning that's basically the accepted standard and it doesn't seem like it has changed so far in that respect.

Do they have that for other mobile or even desktop OS's? Is it mainly through some third party utilities of some sort?

On Android there are apps like Wifi Prioritizer that will automatically reconnect to a preferred network.

On newer Android device there is WiFi priority built in however I'm not sure if it will disconnect and reconnect to a higher priority network as it becomes available.

Although its not really an issue for me, but being able to prioritize wifi networks like you can in OS X, Android and Windows would be nice on iOS, reconnect to a higher priority network would be even better.

Yes, prioritization would definitely be nice, and while disconnecting and reconnecting would be an interesting option to have as well, I wasn't really sure if that was really something that has been offered anywhere in general (given that's not usually the approach that is taken with connectivity).

priority only exists for ios not counting jailbreak, when connected to a dual band router with both ssid's & security is the same, in which it will prefer the 5ghz band assuming its set to ht40/vht80. other than that, it doesnt exist, yet.

by all means suggest it to apple, something probably all of us wouldn't mind, a preferred network OPTION based on list of previously joined networks, or preferred option based on freq band. the beauty of optional toggles..pleases 99.999%

Might is a key word. One review seems to suggest it does that, many others seems it doesn't work they way you'd expect. I'd tend to agree with the negative feedback because of Apples security and lock down on key functions of the phone (not complaining, that's not a bad thing).

I'd be curious for someone here to try it.

I gave my home network an alphabetically prioritised name over the unwanted nearby ones. Seems to at least work for the most part. It doesn't disconnect in favour though.
