Oh, the accounting troubles at Apple aren't that severe! Remember, the stock adjustments were in the millions of dollars, but the Apple cash pile is in the billions. Insolvency issues, let alone bankruptcy filings, aren't in the cards there.
The core nature of the businesses was quite different too, Alpha was shut down because it was really a pyramid/Ponzi scam with the usual legitimate-looking operations at the surface to obscure what was really going on.
