So recently decided to upgrade a few 2012 Mini's with SSD and new RAM.
Both mini's were purchased from the local Apple Store on the same day. Both units were basic 2.5Ghz 4Gb ram with 500Gb hard drives.
Unit one is the wife's machine for use with Final Cut Pro X and Unit two is just for surfing the web on the big screen

For unit one I purchased the Kingston hyperX 480Gb SSD with hyper impact 16gb ram kit.
Unit two received a 240gb hyperX SSD with 8gb hyper impact ram kit.

Unit two machine is running fine on this, but unit one has been a problem over the last few days. Randomly during usage, the screen would get little orange blocks all over it and restart. Sometimes you could go a few minutes, sometimes as much as an hour. I narrowed it down, by replacing ram modules, to the 16 and 8Gb kits. Both of these kits DO NOT agree with this system. I placed the 16Gb in my computer and loaded up FCPX and have had no problems at all. I placed the original 4Gb back into unit one and it is running like a champ. The CL of the Kingston memory is 9 and auto senses for overclocking and power. Is it possible something on her logic board is causing this to fail? I really don't want to use the 400$ apple 16Gb upgrade kit but i noticed it is CL11 based on its specs. Why would CL9 memory run just fine on an exact same model, but not on another? Is there a CL11 memory someone could recommend?

Thanks all!!!!

Could be defective memory sticks? Run a memtest

Since the sticks work in one machine and not the other, I'm more inclined to think the MINI itself is to blame. I could maybe understand if the other MINI displayed the same problem with these sticks, but it doesn't.
I may have to order the cable to relocate the drive and see if that matters.
One computer has it in the "top" bay while the other Mini has it in the "bottom" bay...
