Ever since the announcement of an orange iPhone, I have noticed the color orange popping up everywhere. What the hell? Orange car. Someone wearing an orange shirt. Orange this orange that. Maybe I just never really noticed that color until now. I'm sure there's a psychological explanation for this. It's weird.

Apples marketing is brilliant. To draw attention and make the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max stand out as unmistakable iPhones they offer this bright orange color, like a traffic cone.

Ideal for the narcissist that buys the latest iPhone to be seen with it. Since it's the only bright orange smartphone this year it's instantly recognized.

We're out to dinner the other night and a flamboyant couple at a table across from us each had their screaming orange iPhones on display. It was then it became apparent that one more time Apple hits a home run.

Makes you wonder just how many "Who cares what color it is, you're just going to slap it in case" case-users ain't following their own story out there.

'Cause you know, if case users actually used cases - you wouldn't be seeing orange.

Granted, some case users use clear cases and some cases may actually be orange. But it's just interesting.

Well it is halloween season, so orange and black are colors that more typical now then before, so it makes sense you're seeing orange more often now.
think you hit the nail on the head. It is October, the time of Halloween, Thanksgiving, pumpkins and the autumn season in which orange is a predominate colour.

Yes it is quite interesting.

Apple has done a terrific job of product placement in the movies as but one example. It seems to have influenced a segment of the user base to carry their phones around without a case. It’s the cool phone, the Air is the trendy model. Offered in muted pastel colors to appeal to the fashionable.

Between the Apple logo on the back and the highly noticeable Notch or Dynamic Island, Apple has insured iPhones are instantly recognizable.

It’s quite the strategy.

and the reality is no one cares what phone you have. No one is looking at someone with an orange iPhone 17 and drooling or think better of that person. Apple is great at creating that illusion to the user that people will care what phone you have and what colour it is. I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max in orange. I let our IT department pick out the colour as I just wanted whatever would come quickest. The phone disappeared immediately into a case where save for a few spots you would never know the colour.

YMMV

Yep, gone are the days that you whip out your phone on the subway and heads turn. More often then not, people put cases on their phone and given iPhone 17's scratchgate - its even more imperative to put a case on it, that means seeing the color is not even going to happen.

I have the orange one with a case, a Spigen case, that is all clear so that I can still enjoy the nice color of the phone.
