Just jailbroken and unlocked my iphone 3GS. I tried following the settings that where given on the internet. For the MMS .

MMSC : mms.orange.co.uk
Proxy : 192.168.224.10:8080
APN : orangemms
Username : Orange
Password : Multimedia

And i have changed the phone number at the top of my address book to +44 no 0 . And it still doesn't work . Can anybody help or give any advice .

Thanks Ross

You need to change your MMSC to http://mms.orange.co.uk to begin with.

If it still doesn't work, ring Orange and ask them to send you the SIM update which effectively just puts that data in for you.

When I rang they did say that they don't support it, but i ran those details through with them and they confirmed they were correct, sent me the SIM update anyway just to see, and that sorted it for me.

Im on a Panther 45 internet contract which I thought already had them activated because I think I may of used them on my old phone . And it just gets to the very end then stops and says failed with a red exclamation mark next to the message.

I think you'll need to call 150 and tell them you have an unlocked iPhone. They can sort it out from there. They are not a*al about it like O2 are.

They will either send you settings or tell you which ones to use.

Yep that's what I had. MMS was enabled on my last phone as well, worked fine.

Give them a ring and have them send you the SIM update. Have you put the APN orangeinternet into the Cellular Data bit? That might be needed, not too sure.

I wouldn't bother mentioning the fact it's been unlocked either. They won't ask.

Right ive just given them a ring the women sounded quite surprised when she asked me what phone it was :p. She said that is all set up on the end as in my sim can do it . But i would have to use google to find the settings  any other ideas?

The woman I spoke to sounded rather surprised as well. I don't think they get that many calls regarding it. If you've changed the settings to the right ones, the only thing you could try is ringing back and asking them to send you the sim update just to humour you.

No, it does seem right though as Osarkon says you have to preface the mmsc address with http://

Did you try that?

Just did no difference :( and ive asked them to do a sim update and nuthins happened im running out of ideas.

The SIM update can take up to 48 hours to be sent. You get the text, read it, turn the phone off and back on again, and then delete the text.

Have you gone through that process?

That's your best bet. It can take 48 hours (they should tell you this on the phone, but seem to be getting lax these days about informing you).

So when you get the text, read it, turn phone off and back on again, delete text, you should be set.

Note the text came within 2 minutes for me, but it can take up to the full 48 hours. :)

Well, the next test to do is to put the SIM in a non-iPhone, one that does picture messaging, and see if you can send MMS's from that.

If it works, I guess the problem is settings on the iPhone. If it doesn't, they have not got your line settings right.

Here's the page where you can get settings sent to your phone by the way (but not if it's an iPhone :()

Ok then I will wait and see what happens . Just out of curisoty could it be anything to do wit my tethering not working either?

Not sure about the tethering, I've never needed to use it nor have I any clue how to.

Have you put the APN in for Cellular Data as well as the MMS settings?

In cellular data i have apn : orangeinternet
username : orange
password : password

Well, I guess now wait for the settings SMS to arrive and see whether that makes a difference.

It is definitely possible, so I'm sure you'll get there in the end. Don't despair.
