Orange UK Tethering

Hi

I am still a bit behind times and am still using a 2g running 3.1.2. I have been using it on Orange for about 4 months but with no data working on it, only using wifi where I can for data.

I see Orange offer a tethering add on for £15 per month for 3gb, has anyone used this on the 2g? My other question, would this only work as a modem or would I still get browsing\emails on the phone?
