Order online or Local Store

I live in Huntsville Alabama. We dont have an apple store but we do have a Mac resource. Its a local Mac reseller.

I want a new 2.8 24" imac but Im not sure if I should order online or wait till the local store gets some in. They are an authorized repair center as well as reseller.

Im mostly worried about getting an imac with bad pixels and having to return it. I like to deal with a local person face to face but I want to order a mac sooner rather than later.

Can someone share a recent online purchase experience with me?

You can only get a 2.8 model by ordering online. Unless your reseller stocks it. The apple store doesn't and most resellers do not either, I only know of one exception which is macmall.com which has a retail store in the SoCal area. But that is the only one i know of. Other than that the apple online store is the only place to get a 2.8. So i think online is your best/only bet.

Order on line. I ordered a 24" 2.8GHz Aluminum iMac from a local Authorized Reseller / Service Center on August 8th, I still don't have a shipping date from them.

So just an hour ago, I reordered direct from Apple and here is my status:

Should I wait or order online?

Definately online. I have never received a bad apple from the Online Apple Store.
I have ordered the following over the years:
Blueberry iMac 233 G3
G4 450 AGP w/ CRT
White iMac 17" LCD all-in-one
and waiting for a 24" 2.4Ghz iMac to be
delivered Wednesday or Thursday.
