Hey there,

I orderd a new imac yesterday and on the uk store it says 7-10 days until it can ship... fair enough i said however when i track the order it says on or before the 31st! thats like 15 days!

does the order tracker always display the end of the month?
or is my order likely to be late?

C

Oh and Hello all its my first post!

They often set the estimated ship date way out in the future, so they can appear to have gotten it out ahead of time.

....or, as with everything I've ever ordered, they never hit the estimated date and you'll end up with TNT on speed-dial! :(

I ordered an iMac too (last Thursday), but mine says it'll ship 27 Oct. What they don't say is that its 7-10 BUSINESS days. :( 10 business days is about 2 weeks in advance. Hang in there it'll ship! (At least that's what I keep telling myself).

And welcome to the forums!

and on the UK site it states just 7-10 days.

Mine's due to ship on or before 20th Oct :p

(I'm still waiting for the RMA info to come in the post - so I can send back the unopened Rev.B sitting in my hallway :( )

Did you order a 17" or 20"? The 20" had longer ship dates.

17inch - I've a spare 19inch monitor that I'll use IF I need the extra desktop space.

Not bad :) Correct me if I'm wrong though, I thought iMacs only did video mirroring and not desktop extension?

I always thought the 7-10 days was the time until it is shipped and then you add the actual shipping time onto that (whichever method you chose) for the delivery time. Could definitely be wrong though.

Welcome to the forums.

EDIT: Ohhh, I just reread it. Never mind.

There is a non-destructive "hack" to enable iMacs, eMacs and iBooks to span.

You're right. He'll have to use the hack.

Me? No I'm in BC, Canada. It'll take a good week or after it ships before it arrives though.

EDIT: Just checked my order - it was shipped this morning, 18th Oct. In SHANGHAI at the moment :)

Always exciting to watch your mac on it's world tour before it gets to you. Except for some posts I've seen where it ends up in the wrong area of the world. Anyways, you're all going to have a great time when you get your new computers. If only I was in the market for one now..... maybe in 3 years I'll need to replace my powermac G4 .....

I was playing with a friends PowerMac G5 the other week - nice machines. A little differcult to justify for our needs though.
