Ordered an iPad from MacMall

Hi Guys,

I live in the UK, but my father in law is coming over on the 3rd of May, so I tasked him with finding me an iPad! He's in IL, and has been going round to the Apple stores for the past few days with no luck (seems a common thing).

I noticed they were in stock on MacMall, with free 2 day shipping. He's ordered me one from there now, which is great.

I was just wondering if anyone had an experience of purchasing from MacMall (be it an iPad or something else)? I was all for it to begin with, but now for some reason I'm a little nervous. It just seems odd that Apple Stores across the US are out of stock, yet they are in stock.

Any experiences anyone can share would be massively appreciated.

I received my macallt ipad case from macmall. Fast shipment and as described.
 
MacMall is very legit. I've ordered from them in the past and have received prompt shipments. Usually when people think of buying an ipad they first think of Apple Store or Best Buy which probably explains why they're never stocked with any. It also depends where you are as they're not impossible to find at Apple Stores or Best Buys especially during the week. Plus depending on what state you're ordering from you save tax which is precisely why I pre-ordered my 3G 64GB from them.
 
As someone said MacMall is very legit and quite popular in the Mac community. Make sure if your iTunes account is under a UK credit card address, that you have your dad activate the iPad for (or do it yourself from UK with his US info). I have read other posts from people in Europe who weren't able to activate the device with a euro iTunes account.
 
Yeah, MacMall has been around for years, they are one of the real old school Mac-specific vendors (although they do run PC Mall as well). Personally I prefer MacConnection and Other World Computing but you shouldn't have any problem with MacMall, they're good.

Agent-W, just wanted to add that MacMall is a legit company. I live in the city they're based and go by their store often.

Just the 32GB WiFi version - I'm planning on using it with my iPhone's internet connection when I'm out and about.

Thanks for everyones comments - I feel much more assured about my iPad order now. I can't understand why everyone wouldn't order from them?!? Free 2 day shipping - that's better than the online Apple Store (who are saying 5-7 days), and it seems to be quicker than reserving one instore too.

Dangit!!!

Geez why didn't I think of that???

Macmall is great bought my last 2 macbooks from them and they always have freebies like parallels software or printers etc via rebates.

Best thing about them for my state is no tax & free shipping!!!
 
Just ordered the iPad from MacMall yesterday night. Should be here friday. :D

Are they actually in stock though, or it is 2 day shipping after they receive more?
 
It was ordered yesterday, and is now in Memphis , scheduled to be delivered before noon tomorrow.

Seems like a great service, can't understand why others haven't ordered from there!
 
Did Macmall email out a shipping confirmation? I ordered one yesterday afternoon and thought I had met the shipping deadline to ship out yesterday but haven't received a confirmation. Maybe I was too late....I was hoping to get it by Friday with the 2-day shipping.
 
I ordered the 3g model yesterday morning from macmall and was told that they were backordered. The earliest they said they would ship out is next Tuesday with 2 day fedex.

How did the people that order the 3g model get shipment by tomorrow? Thought they were backordered.

Also I'm not really sure but is fedex better than ups? The person gave me a choice.

Got to love no tax and free 2 day shipping

I believe the people getting theirs tomorrow ordered the wifi only version that's why. I'm in the same boat as you, I ordered the 3G a few days ago and was told it would ship out next Tuesday. In my own experience, UPS beats up the boxes way more than Fedex, that's why I wanted Fedex shipping.

You can always go to their website and check the order status. All you'd need is your order # and zip code.

Awesome, thanks! I guess it shipped out yesterday. For those wondering about people ordering for Friday I'm assuming most people that ordered for delivery tomorrow got the Wifi. That's what I ordered since the Apple Stores in my area kept running out as soon as they received stock.
 
I just tried to order the Wi-Fi only model and they said it's out of stock. They said there would be a wait of probably 2-3 weeks and I'd have to pay for shipping. So I guess I'll look somewhere else.
 
I also just yesterday ordered an iPad 3G through Macmall; the guy to whom I spoke said they expected a shipment today, but as of right now, it still says "backordered" for the shipment status. Anyone know how quickly the status is updated once they receive their units?

It would be safer to just pick it up from Apple Store. I know...you'll have to pay the sales tax, but won't need to worry about delivery etc.

i dont worry about sales tax..what i worry is the availability of iPad at apple store..heard several news that ipad always out of stock at apple store..
