iPhone X Ordered at launch and got worse launch date than ordering today

I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue? I ordered the phone last night at lunch. It was a little frustrating because it kept showing it was available in stores and then would not allow me to purchase it. I finally decided to go ahead and make a purchase even though it said the phone would not deliver until October 5 through October 12. However, right now, the next morning… If I placed an order it shows it would deliver Sept 28-Oct 4. How frustrating! I would assume that I have my place in line and will still get my phone before someone who orders this morning. I called Apple and got a customer service representative who was not very reassuring… She suggested canceling the order and re-ordering… While saying she had no clue if that was a good idea. I’m curious if anyone else has had this issue happened to them? I think I am going to keep my place in line with my order even though it shows it is going To ship later then if I ordered one right now… Let me know what you think!

YOu could cancel and re-order and that will put you on the Sept. 28-Oct. 4. However you shouldn't have to do that and they typically will update and bump you to the sept. 28 - oct 4 batch. I've seen it happen where I once ordered and was on the 3-4 week boat but once it settled, it bumped me up to 2-3 week boat.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have thought about canceling but to me it seems like Apple is smart enough to ship based on your place in line so I do hesitate to cancel and re-order. I think I'll just take the risk but eager if anyone else is in the same boat.

No idea how you were able to place an order yesterday.

I’m sure if you call Apple online store and talk to someone else they will sort you out.

They are just conservative place holders after the first allotment.

It will readjust in your favor. Their system is pretty good this way.

Then again, being strangely superstitious, I would not count chickens at this point

Cancel and rebook if you are worried about timing.

I got the same thing. I have a feeling the system will readjust the shipping date. Mine did last year.

The same thing happened to me. I ordered right at 3:05am EST and my estimated shipping date was between 10/5 and 10/12. However, the estimate just updated to just say 1-2 weeks. Hopefully that's a good sign.

I wouldn't cancel as that may delay it even further. You will definitely get yours much sooner. Especially if you don't cancelled and reordered.

Thanks everyone! Good News! You were all right.. I did look at my order and the time frame has now changed from exact dates to say 'Shipping in 1-2 weeks'. I really thought Apple couldn't be operating in a way where if you ordered your phone a few minutes after launch you got it AFTER ordering it the next morning. I'm just guessing they base some of that on prediction of how many orders are taking place at the moment and do their under promise, over deliver. Now I'll just be hoping it magically ships this next week. Thanks again for your replies and comments !
