I have just ordered a 2.8ghz, 24inch iMac, with a nVidia 8800M GS and cannot wait until delivery. Should I expect delivery in 2 weeks? or is it more like 3-5?

My quoted delivery time was 2 weeks, but it took much less than that. About five days.

yea, i live outside the states too (Australia). Dont no how that changes shipping, etc, anyway.

I've had very good experience with shipping when buying things from Apple. Both repairs I've had to do have taken less than a day to get my thing back, and receiving my stuff was like a week, even though I was quoted like 14 days. Congratulations on your purchase, by the way!

Congrats

Ordered exactly the same Mac as you except with a 500 GB HD. It's my first Mac as well. I ordered it on a Saturday and they quoted 2 weeks, but then it came the following Thursday (from Hong Kong to Sydney).

Ordered imac

My imac was ordered Sat night. the web sight siad i sould recieve it between 15 and 21. I ordered the 2.8 Gig basic unit with just iworks 08 installed. I also took the 3 year protection, as this is my first mac, since apple droped the apple iigs years ago. I just getting fed up because my gateway takes to long to load.

Ah! Congrats on your purchase, and welcome to the Mac world, haha. You'll definitely love the iMac.

As for software, there's PLENTY of great free programs. Adium is great if you like to use AIM for Instant Messaging. Transmission is a good program for using torrents. I recommend VLC for watching movies, and of course Google Earth is always fun to use!

There's tons to choose from, just gotta find what you're looking for.
