I ordered a stock i7 on December 1 through the Apple Online store. My order number starts with W6644xxxx. Does that mean I am getting a computer that is manufactured in the week of 44 (25 October - 31 October)? I have seen many posts who already received their iMacs with production weeks latter than the week 44. I am confused.

Yes, that's what it means.

Order number has nothing to do with manufacture date. It's the serial number on the computer that tells you when it was made. My 27" had an order number beginning with W657 but it was built in week 47.

You won't be able to find out until you turn your iMac on and check the serial number.

Thanks admanimal. I have seen some posts in the "Waiting for my iMac to ship" thread that claimed that the order number is associated with the production week. Now, I know it is not.

Thanks Kilamite. I am aware that the serial number is associated with the production week.
