Hi to all of you,
My first post driven by frustration with Apple's flexibility how to handle an order.

I ordered yesterday an iPad Pro 12.9 with Pen. Looks like I made a mistake during checkout. Went for the express delivery ($8) not seeing it was only for the pen. Delivery date April 9 with engraving for the pen.
Tried to change today to normal delivery which was declined by Apple (agent said it is not possible; to get express for iPad would cost extra). At the end I was so frustrated that I canceled the whole order. I am still surprised that Apple is not able to change a shipping mode for a shipment which is 8 days out. Does not sound like a flexible system. Apple canceled the iPad and is rerouting (returning) the pen. No idea what cost this is generating for Apple. Even wondering what they are doing with an engraved pen.

Bottom line, I will wait for the next iPad generation before I order again. Still have a functional iPad Pro Gen 1. Potentially not a bad decision seeing that my first Gen still is running strong :) .

Apple has never been able to change shipping method after an order, so not sure why you expected otherwise. Seems silly to cancel an entire order over an $8 shipping for the pen, Apple ships all iPads as fast as they can. Good news for you is hopefully you don't have to wait to long for newer model, but just a rumor now.

I’m not sure they’ll change their shipping procedures in the meantime.

I have a first generation device in the house too and it’s still performing great too.

There are rumors that the next generation iPad Pro will come out next year. We will have to wait and see. :)
I heard the same.

I know it sounds silly to cancel the complete order. But I do not like to spend money for something I am not getting. Apple is even recommending the pen during check out. I felt trapped when I saw that the express delivery was only for the pen. And I am fully aware that I made the mistake in the first place. But not to have the chance to correct is 😳

I never had to cancel or change something in the past. I am normally buying my stuff at the store. So no experience.
