I finally brokedown and ordered and a refurbed white 1.83 Macbook. Didnt really need it but wanted to replace my last windows machine with a mac which happened to be a toshiba laptop (which i hate).

My questions are, How realistic are the shipping dates that show up after you order?
Mine says est ship 21st july with delivery est 28th of july. When i ordered my minis from them i never seen such a long delay. Maybe im just excited about getting it and cant wait! :D

Also, has anyone here ordered the same one from the refurb store and did you get any free upgrades? ie:more ram, bigger harddrive, etc...
thanks again everyone

the one i ordered was a refurb, i just cant figure out why they would list them in the refurb store and then have such a delay on shipping.
i could see the new ones having the delay due to demand. but you would think the refurbs are there already and boxed ready to go.

Me either - I ordered one yesterday ... showing the 20th as the estimated ship date right now. Are the refurbs coming from somewhere in the USA or do they send them all the way back to china to be fixed ?

With our wait for something that should be sitting in the California warehouse waiting to be shipped they reward us with a unlisted upgrade! :D

i got a email that says mine shipped also. so there 5-7 days shipping times are a crock. if you ordered a refurb let me know if you get what you order or get a better machine that is listed.

I received mine - no extras. And my 1 key doesn't work right - It's a nice computer though - hopefully the local apple service place will replace the keyboard without sending the computer away.

I got mine too - no extras either. No problems with it so far, but it gets a little too warm at times. ;)

The only problem was that it took about 17 days to reach me in Ottawa, Canada. It shipped on the 23rd of June and I received it on the 10th of July. I didn't think it was possible to ship it as slowly as it did.

got mine today and seems to be perfect condition, not a mark on it. everything works perfect so far. i did put in 2gb of ram right away. make a HUGE difference. And yes it gets hot, too hot to leave on your lap when working.

How much was the white 1.83 refurbished? It's got to be pretty good to beat Amazon's new price...I must have missed them in the refurb store, they only have black ones now.

Mine was $949.00 plus tax and free shipping. it came out to 1018. total. Well worth it compared to new. get the same stuff and a spotless macbook. Mine does not moo at all. just gets warm like everyone is reporting. i just looked and there are out of stock again in the refurb store. i had to check everyday for a week till they got them back in. maybe you will get lucky. When i ordered it it said 5-7 days ship and they shipped it within 48hrs and got it a day earlier then fedex said about expected date. you wont be sorry. i have ordered my last 3 mac's and ipods refurb and everyone has looked brand new.

So it sounds like no one with a refurb Macbook in this thread so far has mooing? :)

I wonder if the refurb products are advertised as soon as they hit the process? Like any refurb product must go to some depot somewhere to get inspected, repacked, and so on. And once it enters that stream, it's pretty predictable how many computers will come out of the far end of that stream, so it's pretty low risk for Apple to try to start selling them right away, even though they are not immediately available. I wonder if that's the deal?

Having not heard a demonstration of the mooing sound I can't say for sure, but the fans aren't loud enough to hear over the background noise at home and I hardly hear them at the office.

I guess that's good...Amazon has $100 rebates on them though, so it's $999, no tax or shipping, and with the Amazon Prime trial thing you can get overnight shipping for like $3 or $4. And that's new, not refurb.
