It says on my order status that the estimated delivery time will be on the 18th October. This seems like a rather long time, just over 2 weeks. Is this normal? Do they quote such a long period as a safety net incase the delivery gets held up?

Many thanks.

Usually yeah they do quote a longer delivery time than what it actually takes, I imagine mainly to cover their butts incase something happens. But they've been taking a while to be delivered lately, as of last week they were for sure but the store has reduced its estimate to 1-3 days from 5-7 in the last couple of days.

Okay, yeah I anticipated that, we do exactly that at the furniture store that I work at. We quote 6-8 weeks for delivery of cane furniture (which is made to order) we usually recieve it within 2 weeks then phone a very pleased customer who is over the moon about 'how fast and prompt our service is'

Smooth eh?:p

I'm a little disspointed it's taking so long.

Very annoying indeed, perhaps it's just us in the UK that have to wait this amount of time?

I think the large delay the last couple of previous weeks were due to them trying to figure out the random shutdown problem and retool the lines and such.

Rats, got an email from Apple saying that when they checked the credit card I used it didn't match up with the billing address we gave. My mum wanted me to buy the MacBook through her business, but gave me her personal credit card details instead. I've replied to Apples email and told them to cancel the order and my Mum has told me she will let me re-order the MacBook on Wednesday once she has sorted out her finance tomorrow.

Fingers crossed it doesn't go tits up this time ha!

I ordered mine on the 28th and it's expected on the 13th October, it feels sooooooooo long.....

And used my credit card, but my partner ordered it through the HE store and we had no problem with different names/delivery and billing addresses....(although we had to finalise the order through the phone..)

I ordered a macbook on the exact same day as you (30th of Sept.) and have the same estimated delivery, 18th of October :(

I don't know if this is true or becoming a trend or something lol, but I ordered two macbooks and both of them shipped exactly on the said estimated delivery date. Just throwing it out there that even though they say its a lot earlier than the estimated delivery date sometimes it takes just as long, as happened to me in both my orders and there were no problems or anything either. I followed my order closely almost called them everyday since the day of order.

To add to the knowledge base: I ordered a full-spec black MacBook on Sep 26, with an initial estimated arrival of Oct 11. This has subsequently been revised downward to Oct 7, and now stands at Oct 8.

I ordered a lot of other stuff, but all of it was 'ships within 24 hours'. It's going to Denmark, so they consolidate shipping in Holland.

Only thing that irritates me at this point, is that there is *still* no tracking number for the shipper yet. Ah well. It'll get here when it does.

I ordered 1.83 whitebook on sept 25 and it stood to oct 11th, then 8th, now 9th... odd. For Denmark.

Just ordered macbook today...

And it should ship on or before 06/10/06 and it should be delivered on or before 19/10/06.

Pretty vague

Well, finally sorted out the order, re-ordered the MacBook, chose to upgrade the harddrive to 80GB. Estimated delivery time is 19th October.

Hang on though.

When I ordered it originally on Saturday (morning) apple were quoting me the 18th of October. I know Sunday doesn't count as a working day, but it should be more than a day later, surely?

Oh well, just hope it gets here asap.:D :D

This order process is really testing my patience now. Just checked order status and got this message:

ACTION REQUIRED!

We are unable to obtain an authorisation for your order. Please ensure your card provider is aware of your order, as we will continue to seek authorisation.

Don't really understand what the issue is, I buy plenty of things online and never need to tell my bank what I'm buying. Do I just need to phone my bank and tell them to authorize a payment to Apple or something?

Thanks

Your Macbook is delayed as they are updating.

Today they have internally announced a new product. Could be an error but I would bet by end of Today you see the new specs listed on the website.

Be thankful you never got one last week :)

Even if they are updating, surely they will still send me (what will be) an older MacBook because those are the specs I paid for, not a new one?

I'd give them a ring, yeah. Prolly just coz its such a large transaction.

Yeah I thought that might be why, it's on my Mums card though and she's working today, how annoying. God knows how long it will take to get through the the bank aswell.

Julian,

Generally incorrect. If they release a new product before shipping whatever you ordered they will give you the new specs. Now it depends where you live as to how it exactly works.

Example if a reseller in europe orders kit and it is not delivered then the order is cancelled upon release and automatically added. Same thing goes on with end users to the Apple Store.

I'll bet strongly (if you have no shipping reprts at all yet) you will get the new model in about a week or so. Hey never second guess Apple though, nobody really knows when anything is due to ship, including Apple. You just sit tight and hope for the best.
