My 2.4ghz MBP was ordered from the apple store a few days ago. I have a few questions:

1 - What manufacturing week is it likely to be?
2 - What is the newest manufacturing week?
3 - How long will it take to arrive? My confirmation email says it should be here by the 28th, but I've been told they often overestimate the date...
4 - Am I likely to have one of those godawful yellowed screens? I picked matte.
4a - If so, will I be able to take my MBP to the Apple store and get it replaced?

Thanks.

I received mine on October 9th (shipped from Shanghai on October 1st) and mine was a Week39 with LG screen. Yours will be one shortly after this I would expect. Maybe a 39, 40, or 41?

Expect about a week. They do over estimate but as soon as you get your FedEx tracking number, the "Delivery date" it shows is almost always accurate, with the exception of unavoidable delays that sometimes (but rarely) arise.

Don't worry about the screen. You are very likely to have a pristine one. Remember that people without problems often post much less in forums than those who run into issues.

Yes, worst case you can go to an Apple Store but if you bought online they likely won't swap it over the counter. They WILL, however, arrange for a swap by shipping yours off.

Be optimistic. I'm sure you'll LOVE your new MBP :D

This is very reassuring! I hadn't considered that point of view, thanks.

I guess being a perfectionist means I'm always considering the worst outcome. I've never fallen victim to any out-of-the-box techno tragedies, but I'm the sort of person who gets irate about a single hairline scratch on a touch screen.

In any case - Should I need it, how will the replacement system work? I've seen various people talking about plans where they've been allowed to keep their borked machines, and they only ship them off once the replacement arrives. I'm in the UK - Is that how it's likely to work?

Thank you.

In Canada, I had a problem with my MBP and Apple offered me a new machine in exchange. I was told that the new machine would come with a new 12-month warranty attached to that new serial number and that I could receive a pro-rated AppleCare refund for my old machine and get a new one effective as of the shipment date for the new machine, or else I could transfer my current AppleCare over, but I would lose the 3 months between the new machine and the older one.

I have yet to decide but I think I will take the pro-rated refund and re-purchase AppleCare. Those 3 extra months might save me down the road - you never know!

My order status is now listed as shipped - four days early. Some simple maths says that the MBP arrives on the 25th in the worst case.

Is Apple's shipping to the UK usually good? I haven't got an order tracking number yet as it was carried out through someone else's account; I'll have to ask him.

I dont think it was good. People in the US got better shipping. But maybe 1-2 days slower. I havent heard anything THAT bad about it.

Okay... I have a tracking number, but Apple hasn't said who they're shipping with.

Not useful!

Can't say for definite, but it's always been TNT when I've ordered through Apple in the UK.

When tracking, have fun watching your package move in the most mysterious of ways. And watch out - early one morning it'll suddenly turn status to 'Out for delivery'. If you're in a major city, it's sometimes delivered even before they update their systems to show it's on the final van.

Yeah; I'm in London. Should be fun.

Tried it with TNT, finally, got a result. Really would be useful had they stated it was TNT in the email... Thank you.

Date Time Location Status

18 Oct 2007 15:28 Shanghai Consignment Picked Up
18 Oct 2007 15:22 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point

It's left China. Good sign!

Good, good. Now watch it bounce around Europe, visiting countries it barely seems possible (spending time with the Dutch and Irish seems a particular favourite). And all of a sudden, while you're not looking, it'll arrive!

Best of luck, and like I say, enjoy the ride.

Well, the TNT tracker hasn't been updated at all since the eighteenth...

Do I just assume that it's going to turn up without warning in the next few days?
