I finally placed my order for my 32GB black 3GS. Took my wife forever to pick which handset she wanted. Now, how the heck am I supposed to get any work done? Every few minutes I keep checking my order status. Never mind that the estimated ship date is 3 to 5 days for my phone, I keep checking. What the heck am I supposed to do, not work at all for the next few days until it ships? Every time I try and do some task that I have been hired to do, I find myself hopping on the at&t site to see if my order has changed at all from "in progress"

For those of you who ordered the phone online, how did you get through the coming days?:apple:

:p

What carrier is it coming by? FedEx? Usps? Usually if you miss the delivery you can pick it up after 5:00 at Fedex and the next day at Usps, I'd keep doing your job, you don't want to lose it and have to pay for the iPhone still :D

Don't know. It hasn't shipped. And I have to keep my job at least until a little after it arrives, I get a 24% discount off of services (that would be the calling plan price for the two phones, and the data plan for the iPhone, hardware and text messaging not included in discount).

hahahah that's awesome, that's what happened to me when i ordered a phone back in June from Verizon. ordered on a friday and it was expected to be at my house the next monday, what a long weekend that was

Same when I got my iPod nano, it was so awesome because it said it was in the warehouse or something (don't remember the exact wording) all day when I was refreshing it, but then I refreshed it again and it said it was being delivered, and at that exact moment the guy rang my doorbell, and I remember running towards the door so fast and jumping over something on the floor as I blasted down the hallway! Was a awesome feeling! :p

Ah, the memories! I had that same feeling when I ordered my Mac Pro back in September of 2006. I tracked that thing from Asia to my door. I was so happy that I was at home, and it arrived early in the morning. I had all day to get that thing up and running. Good times!:D

I ordered my 16GB 3GS on ATT site after the first launched. It was very quick. It stated 3 to 5 days before shipping but shipped the next day after I ordered. I got it in like 3 days from order with standard shipping.

As a matter of fact, I went to an ATT store the day I got it looking for cases and they were quizing me on how I got it so fast. They said they couldn't get them and wouldn't have any for weeks.

So maybe by Friday you'll have it? I feel your pain. I hate waiting for anything. No matter what it is, but especially Apple products :)

I tried not to look at the status but I always checked it anyway. It killed me because the first five days after I ordered nothing happened. Then it change to ship and after that I would always checked the tracking number. Remember that it five days before it gets shipped then another 3-5 for delivery.

I know, but I can't help it. I even checked it just now. estimate was 3 to 5 to leave warehouse, and 2 days transit time. Pretty much Friday is the earliest it can arrive. Next Wednesday on the outside. But maybe I'll get lucky? Here's to hoping.

You were lucky, I guess

this Was the upgrade for my fourth line and still the whole process killed me. Just cross your fingers that you can get it earlier.

I can do better than that. I got a couple of live chickens, and my buddy is helping to build an alter.

Now you know what many of us went through in June, when we pre-ordered the 3GS. I think a Macrumors posting record was set by people going nuts tracking their packages. Plus the system was giving conflicting info about early arrivals and basically toying with us.

Unfortunately, my 3GS arrived on the 19th as promised, not a day early as it had indicated, and by then I was half way to my vacation destination and wouldn't be able to see my new phone until I got back a week later. It was rough.

One thing that has helped a lot is reading about all the various apps out there. I've got a list of about 22 apps that I will probably purchase as soon as it arrives. And just in time I also received a $50 iTunes gift card. Nice! Should be able to load it up nicely for free!

Just got an email! The subject was "Important Information about Your AT&T Order". My first thought was something was wrong, like credit, or address, or something like that. The phone has shipped! And the best thing, it shipped last night, with estimated delivery TOMORROW!

Now I can get some work done. And when I get home, I'll really need to make sure my address and phone numbers in my Mac's address book are all up to date. I'm beside myself.

Enjoy your pride and joy! :)

I have to wait a week to get my 3GS for my eBay auction to end! Think Online Package Tracking effect, but I'm reloading my eBay selling page constantly instead :p

Well, now it is in Memphis. Have to laugh at the cartoon you posted:p

I just watched the video on the fedex site which shows the inside of the superhub. It's just amazing. Piles and piles of packages slide down a ramp, to be scanned by huge robot monsters.

Yeah there's a xkcd for everything :p

That is great tech ain't it? I watched a little vid about Amazon's version a while back, looked amazing.

ahhhhh... but that was one of the benefits of ordering the day they were announced (or shortly thereafter)..... we all played the waiting game here on MR.... we even tracked the freakin' airplanes they were on! it surely took away some of the drudgery of waiting and was a whole heck of a lot of fun!

Lol, I tracked mine every inch of the way and even did a dance around the office (not literally, but close) when I saw the notification that it had been delivered to the AT&T store. I was still working in the office and not at home then, and EVERYONE I worked with knew exactly what my delivery status was at every turn.

Yes, I still have the screenshots...

Enjoy the new toy!!

It's coming FedEx, and the FedEx guy always always leaves the package at the door. So I expect when I head home after work, a nice box will be waiting for me. In fact, it's now at my local FedEx location. The next status update should be on truck for delivery. :apple:

So there won't be anybody to sign for it. I doubt that the fed ex guy will leave it there. If you didn't pre sign and missed delivery you're going to have to pick it up at the fed ex facility. All my 4 iPhones were delivered by fed ex and only on one I missed the delivery so I had to pick it up which I didn't mind. Better safe than sorry. Especially in my community where there's new houses being built so a lot of strange faces. The last thing I want is somebody walking off with my iPhone.

Don't stress me out! It got delivered, left at front door. I'm at work, my wife is at the beach, iPhone on front step. So I'm :D and  right now.

Ok. OI'm at home and the phone is here. Whew. Battery is completely dead. It's charging now. Gonna be a while.
