My wife's AirPods have died and she is more than happy to have my gen1 pros (bought on launch day but both units were replaced last year under rattlegate). So I get to order the gen2s for myself, and couldn't help but customise them with a Memoji... An extra couple of weeks' wait, but worth it :)

I was tempted to order mine with my Memoji also. But I often hand Apple products down to the kids. They would hate having my Memoji on their AirPods case :p Aside from that, they know I'm already in their pocket!🤣

Congrats. I was tempted to customize my case with an emoji, but was scared it would delay the process. I typically have a silicone case covering to protect it.

Give them together with silicon case. Problem solved. 😉

I’m guessing he meant vs picking them up at launch from a reseller. Apple’s ship times are a couple weeks out, but some places still have them in stock for release on Friday.

I originally used Apple's website to place the order on day 1, which doesn't support Memoji. It doesn't even mention that I can use Apple Store app to engrave Memoji.

When I found out 2 days later, I promptly cancelled the order and used Apple Store app to add my Memoji mug to the case. This delayed my order only by 5 days, with September 28, 2022 delivery date.

For those getting AppleCare+, if you visit Apple Store before the 2 year expiration date, you can ask Apple to replace the case with engraving. The replacement case will take about a week.
