Hello,

I ordered a BTO iMac. I ordered Wednesday morning. Based on your guys results, how long do you think it's going to take Apple to build it??

I got the 3.06GHz with 4GB ram, and a 1 TB Harddrive. I went all out.

Thanks,

Kayle

Why did you buy the RAM from Apple? That is biggest RAM Racket in the world, you can get that ram for 1/4 of the price online, and it takes 30 seconds to install. I would call em and take the RAM down to the 2GB standard and buy 4GB online for $80, instead of $200. Then take that extra $120 bucks and buy yourself something else or send it to me for saving you money :p. Here is a link to the RAM that would work for that computer.

I ordered mine on April 30th, it left Apple's facility late on May 2nd. Using their cheapest ground option, it left FedEx's Sacramento facility Saturday morning (May 3rd) and spent 4 days on a truck until it arrived at a distribution center in Hagerstown, MD late last night (May 7th) and is out for delivery today (May 8th). So from ordering to receiving, it took a total of 9 days.

Yeah. I got the student discount so it was an extra $180. It would be cheeper to go the other way. I just might do that.

Thanks

I ordered my 3.06 1 TB the evening of April 28 and it shipped May 1. It arrived today, so for me it was 10 days from ordering to receiving. I got the standard RAM and bought 4GB from OWC that I will install today.

I ordered the exact same computer on Tuesday morning. (Yes, I broke down and ordered the RAM from Apple. I've always gotten it from third party resellers but Apple's price reduction was just enough to appeal to my lazier, instant gratification seeking side!)

So, I ordered Tuesday morning, it was prepared for shipment Wednesday morning, and today it went from San Jose to Sacramento, and then departed Sacramento. The interesting thing is that when it first left San Jose, "expected delivery" was May 14th. That sounded about right for FedEx ground from CA to CT. But when it left Sacramento, "expected delivery" changed to May 10th! That's just 48 hours from Sacramento to my door in CT!! Is that even possible? There is also a note to the effect that the next tracking update won't be until May 10th, which is the same day as expected delivery. Is it possible my new iMac is a stowaway on an airplane? And May 10th is a Saturday...
