is it possible to take the iMac trade in to my local Apple store rather than mailing it in?

I have the trade in estimate from the Apple web site. My iMac is like new ... is the trade in value ever upped a little for machines that are in excellent condition?

TIA

Apple trade in price is a joke. Trade in price for my mid 2017 27” iMac 5K with 24GB RAM and 512GB SSD is $430. I posted it on FB Marketplace for $1000 and sold it in less than 6 hours. But yes, you can bring your iMac to the Apple Store for the trade in and you will get the credit immediately.

I don't think you can take it in and trade it in unless you specified a pick up in the store in your online order. Your trade in is linked to the order number. If you haven't made an online order yet, I don't think they would take it in the store since they have to check the machine out. Let me know if you end up trying that.

Shipping it is really easy, they send you a box with a foam insert that is a tight fit - they even include tape (I use more). Then just drop it off at a UPS store. And the trade-in value is set unless they get it and it isn't in the condition you stated it was. I've used it a half dozen times and they've never bumped it down.

it's a toss up then! I do have an order number and the UPS store and the Apple store are about the same distance from me. I'd prefer to drop it off at the Apple store just in case there was an issue and be able to just put it back in the care and be done with it.

Having just gone through this, I can confirm the trade in process for the iMac by mail is really good. Very fast processing, though the building superintendent rolled her eyes a little at the size of the box they sent when she saw it! Whole process is about as smooth as it could be from initialization to processing.
