I'm still waiting for my student loan funding to hit my bank account, but I have number crunched and I can order it tomorrow and repay that money when it hits.

It will be a few weeks or so before I can order the Magic Trackpad and 8GB of ram, then the 23-34" monitor. I'm thinking Lion is gunna stink with my Mighty Mouse with a dead ball (and it worked a few weeks ago until my teen got her grubby hands on it). OH well, I shall suffer to avoid the funky issues I'm having running this machine with my school stuff.

I'm having issues deciding how to migrate everything to it, I guess I will just run it plain for now - throwing Office on there, and then take it on as I make a plan. I'd obviously like to move the iTunes stuff to it so I can sync my phone and ipad to it - but I don't know if I want to share it this way, or move it here and share it that way. I think moving it here is the best idea right now. I need to reformat that Mini and fix some funky hard drive partition issue.

UGH, maybe I will just stop thinking about it right now!

Anyway, i'm excited to get it - even if i'd rather have the option for Snow Leopard and rosetta. Oh and I probably would order the trackpad if my daughter weren't having surgery next week. I need some $$ cushion - the last time i had a child having surgery I had another one need 3 trips to the ER in the same week.

OK. Ordered before I could talk myself out of it for another 2 weeks.

Best Valentines Day present ever! LOL!!!

Now to stalk my UPS guy tomorrow - gee, I kinda hope it comes UPS instead of FedEx, I have his phone number! :D

Just get a firewire cable from monoprice.com to connect your old mac to the new mini and use Migration Assistant in Lion and it will move all of your music, settings, apps, etc. over to the new mini.

Have FW cables - but all 400 i think...

However, the MBP is running Tiger - have some issues there because of lack of Rosetta. oops.

I'm going to install Office and get thru this weeks homework - and then sort out what i'm moving over!

Well, the UPS tracking is down so I have no idea if the machine made it to town overnight! HMPH.

Guess I will call my driver after I drop the kids off at school to let him know he is *probably* going to have to venture down my driveway again!

Hi Tracey,

congratulations on your new Mini :) I hope it arrives today.

I was wondering, can't you download Rosetta from Apple's Support site for your MBP with Tiger?

I'm going to be helping a friend move from Tiger to Leopard or Snow Leopard tomorrow, and it's been something I've been checking into. Her iMac is currently a self-induced mess... So I'll be using Migration with her other Macs as well.

The MBP already has Rosetta, and I will download it when I take the other Mini to SL.

When I was reading the manual today (go figure, I met the UPS guy on the way to have lunch with my kids, so i opened the box in the parking lot and had to do SOMETHING), it doesn't look like migration/setup works with Tiger. This is what it says, "You may have to update software if the other Mac doesn't have Mac OSX version 10.5.3 or later installed."

I seriously FEEL like a i have a self-induced mess myself - but at least I have reasons for it. I've never bought a computer just to buy - it's always been "i need it yesterday". With the other mini it showed up, I threw EyeTV on it and started recording school classes via satellite 18 hours a day, 7 days a week for 9 months. The MBP was also recording - less but I was burning dvd's on it!

Same for this one - I needed last week.... sigh, I have two weeks off at spring break in march, hopefully i can cleanup some of the messes during that time!

Good luck tomorrow!!

I just installed RAM today, it works great, and I think a good price.
The install took literally UNDER 5 minutes and it was the first time I've ever installed RAM before!

Crucial 8GB RAM Kit

Glad it went well for you!!

The man in brown should soon have mine on his truck today - I see the plane landed. Then I just have to chase him down around town to get it (he hates my driveway).

I'm excited!! Ram, monitor, magic mouse and new running shoes today!!!

Congratulations on the Mini.
Also hope your daughter gets well soon

:)

Well, the sickest kid woke up and now sounds like she has pneumonia. This isn't good, but I know they will say I need to give the meds they put her on last night 24 hours to kick in (they treat strep and pneumonia). Sigh.

All 4 boxes left Orlando headed this way!!

I am SOOO easily amused.

I chased the UPS guy down to subway.

I'm loving this Magic Mouse after just a few minutes!!!!

My sick child is chomping at the bit to help me open the monitor :D

Hopefully, she's on the mend. Children are very resilient!

Well, I have two out there coughing in some sort of symphony - a poor one at that! The sickest one is scheduled for surgery on Thursday... here is hoping she can have it. She's complaining of her chest feeling like it is being squeezed every time she coughs (had a clear chest X-ray last night).

Today's FUN task is musical files from external drives!! UPS brought my FW 400-800 cable this morning so away I am going. The good news is the drive I thought had a blown FW port is working with this configure. Which is good because USB is so much slower.

I need to sort out what is going where - not an easy task, and I have pictures scattered all over the place right now. Not pretty.

But the monitor is great, the Magic Mouse is great, and I'm too tired to do my homework! :D
