ordering question

hey guys
so i decided to buy an ibook a couple weeks ago
cuz it was on sale on amazon for 800 after instand and mail in rebate..
so i ordered from them on dec. 11
but it shipped on the 14th thru ups ground
the estimated shipping dates were 16th-20th..
and i've been waiting patiently but it still hasn't come and todays the 21st.. i called amazon and they said they shipped it already
so i called ups.. (b/c their tracking system has been saying "billing info has been received" for a week .. it still says it)
they say its scheduled to ship tmrw.. but then again they cud b lying lol.. im just getting really impatient..
anybody experience a similar problem whre the tracking system didn't update? im getting paranoid lol.. any suggestions?

It usually doesn't say billing info recieved, somebody screwed up at amazon. Billing info recieved means that amazon has purchased and printed up a label. Then, UPS comes by their warehouse and picks up the packages. If they were swamped with orders, then yours would have been at the back of the stack. Amazon says they have shipped it when they put it in the back. The rest is up to UPS. Its not really shipped until UPS picks up the package.

There is also another possibility of it not being scanned during transit because all the package handlers have wrist mounted barcode scanners.

I had a similar issue with a seagate 400gb sata last year, it should be nothing to be worried about.

I think you are a victim of the mid-December package glut. E-mail amazon and tell them you are curious/worried/confused/perturbed. You will learn the true status, and if there was inappropriate handling of your order then they might even give you a freebie coupon of some kind.

I ordered mine early dec. 16, and Amazon sent me an email that it shipped dec. 19... since then, the ups site shows only "billing information received" (I just checked it again)... so this is the 3rd day of "billing information received"... meanwhile on my order from Amazon, it says the estimated date of arrival is dec 23, BUT IT IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE... bummer if it arrives after the holidays... had I known this was an issue I'd pony up the extra $ for faster shipping

hm so i called up amazon and they said ups did pick it up (i double checked and called ups, and they said it was in transit and it was scheduled to ship to me tomorrow which is good news i guess they just neglected to scan? like cashiers who scan the product over and over because it doesn't properly scan except ups is dumped with orders so maybe they didn't even know it didn't scan properly).. anyways i demanded a refund for shipping (18.02) and the lady from amazon didn't even argue she just said i'll give u 20 bucks back so i was like sweet i made a 1.88 over this fuss hopefully it will arrive tomorrow tho.. i am so excited for my first ever mac thanks for the advice guys, i really thought my package was lost somewhere lol

edit: old corpse, mine has been saying billing information received for the past 7 days but if u call up ups they'll say its in transit, probably just a minor error on their part, so dont sweat it wen using the ups tracking system online =)

Seems UPS may be overwhelmed with packages due to the holiday season. Glad to hear its all working out.

Well, if ups doesn't update their info by tomorrow, I'll call them... or I'll call them in a minute, right after I finish my coffee (wouldn't want to hastily spill coffee all over my Dull Inspiron 1100 laptop I'm writing from )...

I'm so excited to be getting my first mac, I keep checking Amazon, the boards, ups, etc. every few minutes
