Hey everyone! I plan on doing a pre-order through Apple and for the first time join the Apple upgrade plan. I currently have 7+ and paid the full amount when I ordered that one. Now on to my question...

I'm trying to figure out best option for delivery/pickup etc. I'll be out of the country from 17th-27th.

1) Pre order, have phone shipped and once I have tracking, contact fedex/ups and get them to hold at a local facility until 28th.

2) Pre order, have phone shipped to my house and just get someone to grab it for me. Can't remember if a signature is required?

3) Pre order, plan for pick up at local store. How long would they hold it? I would pre order in the morning and not pick it up until the 28th.

Appreciate any feedback from you guys. Thanks in advance!

1. You have have it hold for pick up at either Fedex/UPS but they only hold it for 5 days. I know Fedex has this vacation thingy so I"m not sure if that will extend, you may need to contact Fedex about this.

2. Typically Signature is not required. But it's up to the drivers discretion. My regular UPS driver told me that in most cases signature is no longer required.

3. Typically you can plan on this and as long as you already paid for it, they will hold it for 14 days and after 14 days, they will process it as a return and send it back to the warehouse.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm leaning towards just having it delivered and calling them once I have tracking to make sure they can leave without signature.

If you go with #2, maybe have your friendly neighborhood take care of it for you.

I’m back to debating what to do. I definitely could get a neighbor to pick up but worried about them requiring a signature.

If I choose store pickup not sure how that works...

If I choose store pickup for 28th but actually get back sooner, could I move the time to earlier?

Assuming doing a store pick up vs delivery adds time onto the ordering process

If you choose the store pick up option, you have 14 days to pick it up. So from 21st of September till 5th of October. After that day, they will automatically process it as a return and refund you the money and send the device back to warehouse. So you literally can pick it up anytime within the 14 days.

Oh nice! I was thinking I had to choose a pick up store and a time window for picking up when pre ordering. I’ll probably ship to store if I can get it whenever I want after launch
