I’m trying to order the new iMac. My wife loves the Magic Mouse and I like the Magic Trackpad. We were planning on just ordering both as that was an option in the past. On the new order screen it only lets you pick one or the other. Since we are ordering a blue iMac my understanding is you need to order all the accessories like keyboards and mouses when you order the computer if you want the matching color. Any ideas how to get both in blue?

According to Apple sales support, you order one now and then have to contact sales post-sale and they will let you buy it.
How strange. I wish they'd just let us buy the iMac-colored accessories without the iMac. It'd be cool to buy say, a green trackpad to go with an orange iMac.
I agree. This is one of the more absurd gate keeping thing that Apple does. Even if Apple doesn't want to stock the peripherals at the local stores, at least let us have the ability to order it as a standalone.
That was one of my other questions for the early M1 iMac buyers. If your color matched keyboard/mouse/trackpad stopped working down the line is there a way to get a replacement color matched? I would assume if you keep your iMac for 5 years that the odds of one of those needing replaced is pretty high.
When I talked to sales on the phone she told me they are seeing the same thing on their end. Strange because the M1-M3 iMacs could be ordered with both. This really makes me think this was mistake by whoever built their ordering website and menus. She couldn’t give me a straight path forward and said she was going to elevate it to a supervisor. She also told me they have no way of ordering a separate mouse or trackpad in a matching color. It seems like you got a different answer from a different person. I’m trying to decide to wait and give them a few days to see if they fix the ordering website or should just order now based on what you posted above. Surely there has to be a way to buy matching color accessories down the line if your keyboard or mouse stopped working. Apple couldn’t be that bad—could they?
There are some discussions over on Reddit about this. It sounds like to colored mouses/trackpads/keyboards are not available to the sales side of Apple. However, they are available on the support side of Apple for replacements. If you call wanting to “purchase” a color matched Magic Mouse you get transferred to sales and are told no. If you call and say you need a “replacement” color matched Magic Mouse you get transferred to support. Support matches your serial number of your iMac to verify and authorized buyer and is the department can take care of that. Many folks are reporting that support can see the iMac that you ordered with the serial number but it doesn’t show any of the devices you ordered with it. I am going to do the same thing you did and work on getting a mouse that way once I have my iMac.
For the M1 purchase back then ,you could choose either the trackpad or the mouse. If you want both, you'll need to pay for one. In hindsight, I should've opted for the trackpad over the mouse, the mouse ended up being totally useless and went straight back into the box. I bought the trackpad in-store a few days later.

what about the left overs nobody wants? Are they just going to fire up the manufacturing process and create colors not everyone wants? Not a simple task that's why they pair colors to match. Figuring out how many to manufacture would be tuff to satisfy everyone. Got to be a limit somewhere. Spares for broken ones I understand too but sorry we can't replace the red one because everyone favored that color and we are all sold out.. So they sell only matches so it doesn't happen. Broken or spares will always be limited in manufacturing replacement parts. Nothing made forever.

Such a weird limitation. I definitely remember the option to order both for the previous gen. Thanks for the tip of who to call and what to say though, I want to try my luck with ordering the new USB-C accessories for our purple M3 iMac in a couple of weeks. I wish they would just cut this nonsense and let you order them from the online store.

The mouse or the trackpad are slightly a little bit grey on the surface.
Mouse and trackpad you can buy the surface is brilliant white.
Look here - the old keyboard/mouse is the keyboad/mouse, everybody can buy in store.
The M3 mouse or keyboard came with the iMac M3 silver - and it is slightly grey.
There is still a colour-difference.

I ended up putting an order in. I ordered it with the Magic Trackpad figuring that would be the more critical of the two color matching wise. When I get the new machine I am going to call support with the serial number and ask for a replacement Magic Mouse. I will post back here if I am successful in going that avenue.
