Organizing DVD's

I need someway to keep track of all my dvds, i have probably 200 laying around my house not in one central location.. First, is there any software where i could enter in the name for the dvd and it will come up with information and a picture and organise it in some way? Then is there any other way i can organise the dvds besides the black cases in a drawer? I remember one time seeing like this spinning dvd case that could hold your dvds and when you select the dvd on the coputer, it automatically turns to the dvd and pops it out. Is there anything like this but i want it to be inexpensive.

I think maybe you are asking about a hardware solution like this one. There are others out there, but I know that this one has Mac software in addition to Windows. This will let you store movies and get the disc you want from the storage device by selecting it with the software.

The PC software that I like best is DVD Profiler. It's really very comprehensive and you can make custom reports to print out records of your movie collection. There is a field to record the location of the discs if you want to organize binders or something. On the Mac side, I like the Delicious Library software (mentioned above), but it doesn't store as much information about your movies as I would like. For example, there is not a field to record the location of the movie (other than the "notes" field).

I use Filemaker. I created my own database with it cataloging all my movies.

Though not quite what you were originally asking for, I reigned in my CD collection using DiscSox from MMDesign. http://www.mmdesign.com/. Now I can actually store my CD collection in five times less space than I needed with jewel boxes.

They also offer sleeves for DVDs. We don't (yet) need to store our DVDs into less space, so I haven't tried it out yet.

Delicious Library seems like a very Mac-y way to catalog a collection. I might just give it a try.
