Are there ways to enhance the organization features in the Photos app so that it is easier to delete unneeded photos? The smart folder options are very limited, and the preset folders only marginally helpful. It would be great to have a list of tags of the objects in photos (e.g., food, dog, no people), or a folder where I can choose between similar photos, deleting the ones I don't want. I believe Google Photos may have something like the former capability.

you can enter keywords (cmd + i) and use the keywords to search in seacrch bar , or I often use "Places" to view multiple photos from the same area and eliminate duplicates and similar pictures with that feature - "Collections" is another feature also useful for sorting out similar photos

I am assuming by folders you mean Albums? (unless you are manual organizing your pictures in finder folders?) - this can be turned on or off in preferences < "Copy items to the Photos library"

also assuming you are using Photos 4 or Photos 5
