I've been addicted to these forums since I bought my iPad three weeks ago, what a great resource.

I'm overwhelmed with the possibilities for organization for my iPad via mobileme and the 100's of apps that exist out there (todo, dropbox, etc). But I've found myself having to go through too many steps to get things done and its not so simple. Was easier on the Macbook Pro.

Is google the way to go? Or, is there a more simple way to unify the organization tasks? I need a calendar, to do list, notes, email and the ability to work on and save documents easily then sync with my MBP. (are we spoiled or what?)

Maybe the answer to all this comes on Monday or with new updates.

Would appreciate your advice.

Rumor is that Mobile Me, or at least parts of it, are going free tomorrow. If true, then syncing w/ iCal will be easy.

Here is what I've done:

Calendar - Sync via Mobile Me (have paid sub). Google Calendar is a good alternative, but if Mobile Me goes free tomorrow then you will have two options.

PDF and .doc Files - DropBox then use CloudReader or GoodReader for PDF reading or Pages for iPad to edit .doc.

Notes - Simplenote (on iPad and iPhone) + Notational Velocity on my Macs. Where ever I am I can make notes an it will automatically sync to all my computers and devices.

Mail - Right now I only have my mobile me account activated. I do not use my iPad as a mail retrieval device b/c I always have my iPhone w/ me so it would just create clutter for me.

Google rocks. I use Google sync to sync my Outlook calendar with it, and then I've setup Google to sync with my iPad.

I trust Google a lot more to work out a decent interface with Outlook than Apple... ;)

For notes, Simplenote on my phone, iPad, and via the web on my MBP.

For todo list, toodledo the same way as notes above.

Changes made on any one of the devices automatically updates on the others.

Hope this helps.

Still figuring out which way to go on files. Hopefully MobileMe will resolve that issue sooner than later.

I'm a paid subscriber but free is much better. :)

So Simplenote and Notational Velocity Sync to each other?

Yes, the files issue is such a pain. Thanks to you all for the help.

Same here, though I think I'd go with MobileMe if it was free.

I tried MobileMe and it wouldn't sync my corporate Outlook calendar. It may have been user error, but it seemed limited to local pst files. Google sync sucks the events from my Exchange server while I am connected with my Outlook client and posts then in the Google calendar, where my iPad picks them up.

I always seem to run into one problem or another when trying to use Apple and Microsoft software products. I wonder why that is...
