Hi everyone,
Back in 2008, I sent my original iPhone 2G to Apple for a repair due to a screen/display problem, and they sent it back in a smaller, thinner box—not the typical retail packaging.
I’ve seen an all-black version of the replacement box online that just says “iPhone” on the front with no graphic, but this one is different. It has the full graphic of the original iPhone on the front, and it’s embossed with texture, just like the standard retail box. However, it’s much thinner and doesn’t have a serial number on the back.
I’m curious if anyone knows more about these boxes. Were they common? How do they fit into Apple’s history with the original iPhone? I haven’t seen another like this and would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance for any info or insights!
