Anyone know? Will the apple Digital AV adapter send audio over HDMI when used with an original iPad?
Apple's site is ambiguous about this.
Thanks.

Apple's site actually specifically says the HDMI adapter is compatible with the iPad, iPad 2, iPhone4 and iPod Touch 4th gen.

I really dislike Macrumors and Apple. :D Did not really follow the iPad 2 too much, since my iPad 64GB is doing well so far. But in reading the description of the MC953ZM/A, I see that I will be buying yet another adapter soon I guess. :)

This "news" to me... but very good to hear. It will make it more sense for some to go for the 32MB iPad 2's IMO. In my case with the first 64GB iPad I have space to spare when traveling or wanting to share the movies in my library. :)

BTW an off topic post perhaps... what is the longest HDMI cable that could be used with the adapter? And maybe missed it what is the HDMI connector on this adapter?

Cheers

Your post makes absolutely no sense.

Thanks everyone,NeoMac particularly. I think I'll pop into an Applestore and grab one.

I'd read this but it's ambiguous with regards to audio. I was worried it would be like the mini displayport to HDMI adapter that only caries audio on later MacBooks.

Chip NoVaMac: I have a five meter HDMI lead that works fine with my MBA.

HDMI always supports audio. The problem is that most projectors don't use HDMI -- they use VGA. Kinda annoying to have to use a VGA/ 1/8inch audio dual line to connect to a projector, but oh well.
