hey guys
I've been looking for the Orinoco Wavelan driver software to use my gold PCMCIA card with my PowerBook 3400c. So far I haven't been lucky. Have been looking for this everywhere with no luck. I'm running Mac OS 8.6 and I've read somewhere that the version of the driver that could be used would be 7.1, does anyone know where to find it? Links to the software on most pages are not redirecting anymore. My take is that they've been taken down for some reason. Maybe someone here has it and might like to share it with me?
Thanks a lot guys
J

Yup, sadly, archive.org whilst having cached the download page and pdf, doesn't have the software itself.

Cached Proxim PDF for v7.2:
https://web.archive.org/web/2003100...re/ORiNOCO/PC_Card/MacOS/client_r72_macos.pdf

Cached Proxim page showing release date & supported MacOS versions:

However as loathed as I am to point you there, I believe the following pre-dates re-packaged installers and should provide a driver for 8.6-9.2

http://download.cnet.com/Orinoco/3000-2112_4-7070.html

Please note, whilst I've looked at this before, I've never implemented it myself.

The following page may be of help if you run into trouble:

did you try the regular airport software? or is that not have the same chipset? I have a card Orinico Wavelan silver and a gold that work with native airport drivers in a powerbook G3.

I agree-if you're running 8.6 on you should be able to use the native Airport drivers, although you will need to install them manually if the card was not in place during installation. I believe the original Airport card was a slightly redesigned/reconfigured Orinoco Gold.

They have worked fine for me on my Wallstreets/PDQs and Lombards with my Gold. I'll try the 3400C one of these days-I'm afraid the internet would be somewhat of a miserable experience :), plus I would need to upgrade to at least 8.6 so that I can use Classilla.

Hey bunnspecial. Thanks for your advice! What is the right software installer for airport in Mac OS 8.6? The reason I ask if because there are so many versions that I wouldn't tell which one to use!
I finally got a copy of the 7.2 version of the Orinoco software to make this card work. which one would you prefer to use? I used the airport software in Mac OS 9 and I remember it was pretty straightforward;
I've read in various posts about this browser "Clasilla" what does it do? Haven't got a chance to read thoroughly. Is it the only way to go if you want to use the internet in 2017 with a PowerBook 3400 running Mac OS 8.6?
Thanks!
