Anyone having trouble loading their account on the latest build? I start up my computer for the first time after updating to El Capitan GM and my account is stuck as seen in attached photo.

I tried to boot in safe mode but it's not working. Did they change safe mode? I'm using a mid 2012 retina MB Pro.

This is very odd, I have two machines and the GM install was as painless as ever. Have you considered reinstalling the GM? I think that it might not have fully completed the install. This may sound stupid but have you given it the windows emergency treatment? (CTRL-ALT-Del) and reseting the PRAM? I have generally been surprised by how many problems are solved by the PRAM reset.

It did fully install. I was using it for awhile. This is the first time starting it after it was updated. I'm trying the PRAM, doesn't seem to do anything.

Shoot, I'd just hate to go through the bs of recovering my backup from Yosemite.

Before you do that, there is a way to install the GM onto a USB and boot from there (OS X daily has a recipe) and you can use the disk utility to repair permissions etc... Worst case, create another user account with admin privilege and log into that, I've also had good luck with that approach.

very similar thing happened to me. I found the problem was in an attached 27" cinema display. Once I unplugged the display it worked. I can no longer reboot my computer with my main external display attached and must unplug it every time now. Total pain in the a**.

I'd try creating a new user account and see if the issue remains. If it does reinstall because you're obviously not getting the expected behaviour, probably a bad install.
