I had OS 14 Mojave on Mac mini 6.2 (Fall 2012) and Time machine running on an external disk Storeva 4To, formatted "MacOs étendu".
I - very unwisely - up graded to 10.15 Catalina, and lost several applications very useful to me.
Eventually, I downgraded to 10.14 (thanks to a bootable backup), and all was OK. Except Time Machine !

- on the previous Storeva 4 To : Time machine starts, and after some time, it stops. Message : "Time machine couldn't backup" ("Time machine n'a pas pu exécuter la sauvegarde", in French). Why ?
- I try with a new Storeva 8 To (compatible with OS 10.14), erased and formatted MacOS étendu. Time Machine says : "State of the drive could't be detected" ("Time Machine n'a pas pu détecter l'état du disque de sauvegarde"). Why ?

How recovering the use of Time Machine ?
