OS 3.0 - Definate Problem With WiFi

I have the following

3Gs , 3G, and a Ipod Touch 2g.

Here are my tests results.

Using 20m/2m Charter Cable with D-Link DGL-4300 Router. (Sitting about 12 inches from router)

20 tests per device.
Average Upload/Download Speeds Using "Speed Test App"

3Gs ( Of course 3.0 OS) - Average DL 2.7 mb (Min/Max Range 1.8-3.2) / Average Upload 2mb
IPod Touch (2.2.1 OS) - Average DL - 4.2 MB (Min Max Range 3.6- 4.4) / Average Upload 2mb


I will update later with the 3G (Wife has it and shes at work) (Currently has 3.0, have 2.2.1 on Backup)
 
ive noticed connectivity problems and also huge interference with my speakers. dont know if this is related but I've now downgraded to 2.1.1.

The only wifi issue that i have noticed with the 3.o software is that it keeps asking me for my wifi network password.

Over and over again.

Starting to become very annoying....
 
Interesting. I've had nothing but positive results with wifi on my iPhone 2G w/3.0. The only thing is was doing is being sluggish in some areas so I'm in the middle of a restore and sync to start clean.
 
I've also noticed 3.0 Wifi issues. It seems the signal strength is much lower now. It switches to 3G in parts of my house...and my house isnt that big! It never did this on 2.0
 
Issues with Wifi on 3GS

My 3GS also is having problems with wifi (home, Verizon Fios router). My iTouch with 3.0 (for months) had no issues. But the 3GS is working so poorly on wifi that I get better response from the cell network! I first thought the App Store was down, etc., because I couldn't believe something so simple was broken.

I'm tentatively assuming this is a hardware issue, since 3.0 was in beta for months, and the only part of the story that is new is the 3GS hardware.

'Repair' steps on the net are 'reset network settings'. Doesn't make any difference. I'm using WPA2, but I've tried even no security and it doesn't help.

So... now what? I might try the Apple store next week, but I doubt it's a sample defect.

Suggestions, comments?

Edit: Forget to report that rebooting didn't help, and speed tests give approximately 13/1.5 So, it's not pure connectivity but perhaps certain protocols or packet sizes? Heck, I do this stuff (network testing) for a living and I can't see what is up here. (Of course, if I had access to some way to see what was going on...).

Also, my MBP 17 works perfectly. So, it's definitely the 3GS.
 
I am having quite a bit of WiFi connection problem with my new iPhone 3G S. The 3G S maintains good connection when there aren't much of other wireless interference like my home environment. However, when there are many other WiFi Access Points regardless of the brands, my 3G S continues the connect/disconnect cycle. I have not had this much of connection problem with my 1st generation iPhone even when it was running 3.0 software.
In fact, I used to create an Ad-Hoc wireless network on my MBP and ran iTunes Remote App on my 1st Gen. iPhone to control the iTunes on that MBP. I was able to do this in 30 ft distance without a problem. However, with my new 3G S, I can't even do that putting the iPhone right next to my MBP in the same room as before.

It seems like either the WiFi antenna is not connected correctly, or the roaming sensitivity on 3G S is much higher causing it to constantly roam among available APs, or at least try to roam.

As it is right now, WiFi connection on my 3G S is not usable outside of my house.

If I get a stable connection like in my house, I can fill my internet connection with SpeedTest. So the problem is not with throughput but it is with connection.
 
I just upgraded my daughter's iPhone to 3.0 and can now not connect to wifi. It was working fine prior to the update.

My iPhone which I update earlier in the week has no problems connecting to wifi.

Definitely seems to be a hardware/software combo.

I myself don't have a 3GS but my original iPhone's speed performance on 3.0 on my home wifi network is roughly where it was with 2.2.x....

As long as I can maintain a good connection to an AP, I can fill my internet pipe both ways (upload and download). That makes me to believe the problem is with the connection rather than throughput one.
