OS 4 availablity

On Apple's site it mentions that the update for iPod Touch users will be available for free this time, it never was before. Will it be for free for the iPad as well? Also, am I correct to think the update for the iPad will be arriving this Fall 2010?

You are correct in that it will be arriving in the fall and that it will be free. It was stated at the last quarterly earnings conference call that 4.x would be free for the iPad.

Looking forward to OS4 on the iPad lots.

I'm hoping they will not just give us the same as the iPhone OS4, but also find time to tweak/adjust/add things for us iPad users.

Due to it's screen size, the iPad needs different consideration.

I'm sure we'll get the folders as there will be uproar if we don't

I also hope we get the ability to adjust/change things a little more on the iPad itself and not to have to run off to a PC or Mac and sync to iTunes to make changes.

Be nice if the iPad (over time) can become a little more independent in it's own right, and I'm sure (to some degree) it will.

Not sure if it will be BT printing but since many printers like the one I own are wifi, all we truly need is a simple patch which will allow you to print over wifi. I don't see how not having folders will create uproar - IMO it's quite needless but thats me.

As long as the iPad can print to a printer without a PC being on and attached to it, then that's all people would want.

The folders thing seems obvious, with the (rather silly considering the screen size) number of app icons per screen and 64GB iPads things are going to get very crowded and messy for some people over time.

Folders are a natural thing to have to group app types.

As I say I hope over time the iPad can be made a little more independent and not so tied to syncing with iTunes and a full computer so much.

Agree with you on the folders point, and anyway when has an uproar made any difference to what apple does. There was uproar when we found out:

There would be no camera
It wouldn't run osx
It couldn't cook your dinner
It wouldn't take the dog for a walk etc etc etc

However, it still sold 2m in a few weeks!!!

I know I said this in another thread yesterday but the EULA for the iPad had already stated that iOS4 would be fa free upgrade, it was just releases after that which were in question.
