OS Sierra hard to wake up

I installed Sierra clean from usb, and so far it has a few niggles, worst one being wake from sleep being annoying and so slow to wake, sometimes have to hold power button and reboot.

another is my network HP laser printer, see's it and installs it, but no way I can print to it, says printer idle, have to connect via usb now to print.

I don't think there is any great advantage over El captain, infact think El was faster all round. and I have to say since using win 10 I might even ditch Mac and go back to PC as win 10 is a good OS and I won't be stuck with slow hardware like on Mac.

there is no need to keep bringing out new OSX every year, just get the current one working 100%

I still think pad's and phones is all Apple is interested in now, in the desktop market Mac is way behind in hardware.

I have the opposite issue : it just doesn't stay asleep.

well I fell for it once more, new OSX and installed from USB clean install, now I am going back to El captain as I can't stand the won't wake from sleep, spinning beach balls in safari, slow shut downs and just buggy OS.

Apple you need to get it right before release, a high end retina iMac here which should fly, and all I get is bugs, GFX bugs, safari bugs, sleep bugs, dam Sierra is worse than any other OSX I have used.

I am gonna go back to PC and sell this iMac, the one thing that got me into Mac was its reliable OS but now win 10 is miles ahead and apple seems to cater for its phone and pad users more than its faithful large format user's.

I knew apple would go to the wall after Steve.

ranting is much better than getting help. it's not a universal problem, it's a problem you're having. but since you're going back to PC, all is well.

meanwhile, am having a great experience with sierra, and loving my new 12" macbook... a post-steve moment!

I sort of felt the post Jobs era might bring some things that we've always wanted. Like bigger phones and more upgradable computers.

We only got the larger phones. The computers have been lackluster at best.

Sierra actually fixed a few things that El Capitan broke do I'm OK so far with it.

I use Windows and macOS based systems and each has their merits. I use each about 50% of the time. I've updated the windows systems more frequently since Apple made the iMac even more difficult to open. I'll replace the Mac when it dies. Years ago I upgraded every year. No real need to do so anymore.

I like the iPhone and still upgrade regularly but my iPad is like the computer, it stays until it's too slow.

Not sure whether Apple computers are in my future long term but for now they'll do.

Apple you need to get it right before release

Apple never has done that. Even when the almighty Steve was running it.

The forum here goes back to 2001. For every OS release, you can find multiple rants like the one you just posted for 10.12.

So it's not a "since Steve Jobs left the company" thing. It's also not a "they spend too much time on iPhone" thing either.

ranting is much better, i have used macs since before colour screens, was always a good OS but come on read the forum and others, sierra has some bugs and not just myself. if i was using old hardware i might expect a few problems. installing from a USB to a clean drive sierra should not have shut down issues, GFX issues or sleep issues, and not only myself but many others. as stated on these very forums in many posts. why does my network printer work now in el cap but can't even use it over network from the same machine with sierra? see's it, but thats it, nothing out of it.

if apple wish to release a new OS to give problems every year and force upon user's the upgrade at least have it working. this whole apple thing of not letting older hardware use newer OS versions is also pathetic, a 2010 mac book pro is not a out of date computer, yet apple forces these people to either upgrade hardware or not allow newer OS versions to run.

kernnel panics and freezes is not what i expect from a new OS which has to play ball with user's already purchased software. Apple have dropped the ball, apple mac pro 3 years out of date, yet want a premium price for it. this 5k iMac in real terms is out of date to what you can buy hardware wise for a PC.

is windows 10 so bad? NO its a very good OS and yes since upgrading my W530 thinkpad to it I have had no issues at all. so for the people who are led blindly by the Apple brand and the OS think like others do, there is life outside apple and its cheaper!

Yep, I had minor issues but Sierra runs quite well now. Faster than El Capitan, but not that many new features. Evolution, not revolution.

have been on a mac since 7.6, so i get it. but if you've been around so long, you know that EVERY new version of the OS has issues for some people, not everyone. it's an endless pattern. and again, for many of us, sierra is pretty great out-of-the gate, so... you're having problems, and you should get help; or, as you said, move to windows. nothing wrong with that, at all.

could be a hardware issue you're having (fwiw)

Not my experience. Other than some mouse zoom twitchiness, Sierra is running fine.
I was hoping for some bigger changes and consequently a few more bugs, myself.
