Unsure if the battery life on my M1 14' MBP has gotten worse since upgrading to Ventura about a month ago. I have had the computer since February of this year.

I can recall prior to the upgrade I'd be able to watch 4K YouTube on 50% brightness with about 8-10 hours of screen on time.

However since upgrading to Ventura my battery has been draining about 10% per hour with 4K YouTube at 50% brightness + Bluetooth on connected to AirPods Max, and with light internet browsing with bluetooth turned off and 50% brightness my battery went from 80% to 60% in roughly 2-2.5 hours.

I am unsure if my expectations are an unrealistic or if there is some bug going on with the OS and my battery. Currently my battery health is at 94%.

Would love to get the forums input on this.

Yeah battery life has taken a noticeable hit on my 16” M1 Max. Last night, just running Word and Safari while writing a paper, I think I used 10-15% in about 2 hours. I also noticed it’s using a lot more power in sleep mode. Before I could leave it sitting for 2-3 days and maybe loose 5%, now it’s more like 5% per day.

Good to know I am not the only one who is experiencing something similar. It seems to be a mixed bag based on reading other similar forum posts on here and elsewhere regarding the battery life performance on 14/16 M1 machines on Ventura.

Hoping this is a known issue for the Engineers at Apple to push out another update to remedy this if it's a Ventura issue.

As an update from my Original thread post. As I am writing this I am currently on 16% battery waking from sleep after about 12+ hours. I had ended the day yesterday with about 20% (from around 57-60%) and based on what the battery settings is telling me, I had about 5.5 hours of screen on time . This was again watching YouTube on fullscreen with a mix of HD and UHD at 50% brightness with bluetooth on connected to wireless headphones in Safari. Yesterday's usage combined with the prior day, on battery alone has so far netted me about 7-8 hours screen on time.

I feel like loosing about 2 hours of that is rather significant but again maybe my expectations are too high.

Thanks for the suggestion F23, I will try that out! Is there any particular reason (to your knowledge) why that is the case?

saw a thread on here or on reddit where someone noted increased CPU usage with it on vs off

I also have an battery draining issue on my M1 MBP 2020.

Used it in the last 4 weeks in combination with my new LG Ultrafine connected to Thunderbolt so I didn't noticed any change in battery life.

However, yesterday I used my MacBook for the first time after a long time on the go and noticed a huge difference in battery life. Some weeks ago I had a remaining time of nearly 18 hours with my workflow with 100% and now I am at 10 hours.

The temperatures are fine, my battery health is at 100% and I checked the activity monitor for some noticeable processes, but there is nothing.

I am not doing any creative work. I am just surfing, using software for university like Notion, Obsidan, Anki and Safari.

I hope that it will get fixed soon. It is really annoying to have to worry about the battery and carry a charger with me.

I have been trying to monitor mine as much as I can lately seems I lost 8% while powered off for about 20hrs. Looking like im going to get 6hr on a full charge with only light use. Only had the MacBook for a few weeks with this update coming on the second day. Everything seemed fine till this charge.

+1 here for OS Ventura draining since I upgraded. Your battery health is probably lower than 94%. Mine is showing 94% but coconutBattery is 89%.

So would people's advice be to stick with Monterey if they haven't upgraded already? I don't think I'll need any of Ventura's features for awhile. It's weird - you'd think an update would improve your product, not wreck it.

With MacOS 13.1 just released, I'd like to see a post commenting on the battery performance on the latest OS.

Have the same problem. Hope the update fixes it. My MBA also suddenly dropped battery health after the update. Which was quite puzzling since I have only 34 load cycles and dropped health to 98%

I have an M1 MBP 13 and I've just noticed the same thing 2 weeks ago. I checked the battery health and it showed 97% with 75 cycles, right now it's 95% with 78 cycles. The battery drains remarkably faster than before. Should I be worried or did anybody find a solution for this problem?

I found out that somehow email drained the MBP super fast after the update. So now I stop the programm instead of letting it run longer. The battery drain seems normal now. Battery health is still making me wonder how I could have prevented this. I did all Apple said about charging.

This morning my MacBook Pro 13" 2017 with Ventura was lukewarm instead of cold as it usually is.

It was unable to wake up (this have occurred a number of times before).

When I finally got it to reboot the battery had drained quite a bit, it was around 6%.

I'm almost sure that the charge was much higher when I went to bed.

This morning it happened again but this time the battery was completely drained.

Thinking about downgrading to Monterey.

Purchased this MacBook Pro a couple of months ago. Ventura 13. Battery seems to drain quicker than previous machines. Charged to 100% yesterday (2/14). Sleep mode until 30 minutes of use about 12 AM, and again about 60 minutes this afternoon. Battery is at 39%!!
