I love OS X 10.8.2, but there are some improvements I'd really like to see. Some are very minor details, because everything else is great and I don't stop until things are perfect. Almost perfect means things can still be better.

  • Messages app should work flawlessly (right now there are some weird things occurring every now and then where u see old messages and whatnot).
  • Two-step login, see all logged in sessions/computers/devices and remotely log them out, change iCloud/iTunes password in a centralized way without having to re-enter it everywhere). Very important given how if your password is compromised, your Macs/devices can be remotely wiped if Locate My Mac/Device is turned on.
  • I use Spotlight to launch/switch apps with the keyboard. Cmd+Space, Type a few letters, Enter. This works great for all apps, except Finder is not there.

  • This slider snaps to the notches, yet it's 1 pixel off. Yes, very minor, but fix it and I'll be happy!

  • This is my biggest woe. Using Mission Control with "Group windows by application" on, you can *expand* a group of windows. Yet they still overlap! Why? If you turn off "Group windows by application" they don't overlap! That behaviour should be mimicked. See photos.

Group windows by application on, Mission Control performed.

Group windows by application on, Mission Control performed - and window group expanded. See how they still overlap. WHY?!

Group windows by application OFF, Mission Control performed. See how they don't overlap! This is how the previous screenshot should be like.

Just wanted to vent, thanks for listening. I hope Apple figures out these problems and fixes them.

The second MC screenshot... It is supposed to be that way even way back in Lion, that's why everyone's making a hoo-haa out of that damn thing until Apple brought Full Windows Expose back on ML.

If you look at the history of Mac OS X, Tiger was stable and relatively uneventful. Leopard sucks, Snow Leopard fixed much of the Leopard debacle and the most stable OS X so far...

Then comes Lion, suck big time. Mountain Lion should be the Snow Leopard version of Lion, but unfortunately things ain't getting better... There are still tonnes of graphical issue in ML from the Dock itself to the severe video memory leak on the GPU.:mad:

Good thing history never repeat itself with SJ got kicked out of Apple back in the 80s, destiny kicks him out of Apple straight into his grave for good. Now I would hope the same to befall Craig Ferengi (or whatever his last name is) and the miraculous return of Bertrand Serlet.... :D:D

Unfortunately, ML probably only has 2 more updates left then it's on to 10.9 which will no doubt introduce a slew of new anomalies. :(

What makes you say that? Just curious as I don't know how that works regarding updates.

That's what worries me. X-Plane 10 ( which I have recently purchased ) was stable under 10.8.1, and full of ML bugs in 10.8.2...Apple should address issues properly before releasing yet another major upgrade. I understand the big push towards IOS integration, but don't forget that our installed applications have to work too.

OP, can you add in your post also the lack of a gesture zoom feature in Mail app like in iOS? This bothers me a lot because I use both a Mac and an iPad.

Based on history, we might get 10.9 next summer, or the one after that (or one after that).

Or it might go to 11. But that should be something dramatically different, perhaps like Windows 8. Merge OS X with iOS (but take the best, not worst, of both worlds!).

Edit: Heh, it kinda makes sense. OS X = OS 10. OS 11 = OS XI = OS Xi = iOS X. Hah, never mind.

It has one major bug for me - WoL is not working, and enabling this option causes "dark wakes" and mdworker stucks - solution is hard reboot

I believe 10.8.0 was released just after 10.7.4 and before 10.7.5. (???)

If history repeats itself, you might see 10.8.3 and 10.8.4 which is only two more updates before the summer (July?). This is the new cycle.

No telling though but by the lack of panic on Apple's part regarding ML's current list of bugs they don't seem to be in any hurry.
